    Hey ladies,

Basically instead of paper confetti, my h2b and I decided it would be more cost effective to buy a big bag of rice, some food colouring and dye the rice ourselves to match our wedding colours. However, we have no idea how to do this.

Has anybody seen any websites that are good for this sort of thing? Or done it themselves? Any help will be greatly appreciated :)

Ermmm you might want to check with your church/venue first hunni as ive heard it can be bad for birds if they eat it so some venues dont allow it.

I didn't even know you could do that! I'd worry that the dye would come out over your dress, that would be scarey xx

this is wot i found for u hope it helps
Pour 1/4 cup of undiluted white vinegar into a clean, empty wide-mouth jar. Add three or four drops of the food coloring of your choice, and stir to combine.
    2
Pour 1/2 cup of uncooked white rice into the jar containing the colored vinegar. Seal the lid as tightly as possible.
    3
Shake the jar vigorously until all of the rice appears to be dyed evenly. Place the jar on a flat surface, and allow it to sit undisturbed for about five minutes.
    4
Pour the contents of the jar through a fine sieve over the sink to drain out the colored water. Spread the rice in a single layer on large sheets of old newspaper. Place it in a sunny location to dry for at least 30 minutes, or until no more moisture remains.
    5
Store the dry dyed rice in a zipper lock sandwich bag or an airtight plastic container. Repeat the process to make additional colors. Use the dyed rice in craft projects.

Hails: That's a good point actually. I figured it would be better then confetti, even if you get the biodegradable stuff. Lol. Ive also just been given the idea of putting it in with the invites as confetti when they open then, rather then the metallic annoying cr@p. Lol

True. Ben says we'd be doing the council a favour by getting rid of a few "flying rats". Lol. Don't think the council will see it that way though. I really hope we can do it as we have a huuuuuge bag of rice from his parents (they own a restaurant) but we don't like plain rice :( So yeah, we now have a 5kg bag of rice and nothing to do with it. Lol

i agree with some of the ladies above, alot of venues dont allow it as it can damage birds if they eat it,it makes their tummys swell, and also alot of venues are not asking for people to use bio degradable materials as its more eco friendle,so be sure to cheek before you buy anything
