Has anyone got married in a local registry office then used all their budget on a honeymoon?

No, but it sounds good!! Friends of ours sort of did that, they spent about £2,000 on their entire wedding day, then had the most amazing 2 week holiday the following summer as a sort of belated honeymoon. Its entirely up to you what you do, so long as you and hubby are happy thats all that matters! xx

That sounds ideal! After all a wedding is only one day! As I say, you can spend £1000 or £25,000 on your wedding, the day after we are all he same! Except those with higher budgets end up in debt a lot of the time!

We're being greedy and having 2 lol. We've hoping to take our girls to Disneyland Paris then we want a week on our own somewhere relaxing. I keep looking through the brochures but can't just pick 1 place, they all look so inviting. As long as its got sun, sea, sand and my new husband i don't mind where we go. Where are you going? x

no idea. we've toyed with getting married in vegas and cyprus but after lots of searching we have found a really nice little hotel in the lake district we csn have 2 nights accomodation and wedding for really cheap price as we're doing it on a week day so frees up most our budget for just the honeymoon. Cant decide where to go as we won't go until september (when my son back at scoo - nanny babysitting). We like small and remote so going to go back to travel agent and see.

ZeeMee thas a nice idea - going away with your girls first as a family celebration holiday!

I am really tempted to do this, it is tradition in my family to have a catholic church ceremony but it just bumps the cost up because it is obv in a different place than the venue, so shipping people between and then it gets complicated as as many people as want to can come to the church but we are trying to limit the wedding breakfast guests.
    DRAMA.

This is very tempting though... especially as OH wants to go to Mauritius or the Maldives which will blow sooo much of our budget!!!!

That's why we aren't having our local one georgie. Ours is lovely outside but has dirty dingy corridors and the room is yellow (supposed to be gold).

Our wedding has taken a weird twist. The ceremony and reception will be held in the same place, which will be much cheaper than originally thought, but we have to use their catering team which will be treble the cost of hiring the place!! So yeah, most of the money will be spent of the party afterwards. Luckily for us, the honeymoon is being paid for by my father.

Im REALLY lucky, our office was only built last year so it will still be a new and clean hopefully, plus it's got the whole top floor dedicated to weddings only and a large beautiful memorial garden over the road from it, great for pics x

I think you should pick a honeymoon that relates to you and your h2b personalities.... Actually scrap that, if my h2b had his way, he'd be sending us of to the Nurburge (can't spell lol) ring thingy or to a footy match somewhere lol x

we did, we had a small wedding, 17 people, a register office wedding that was lovely. we didnt even have an evening do.
just because its small dont mean it cant be beautiful.....we saved money on doing that.....and went to Vegas! if we had had a bigger wedding, then we couldnt have done that.......I dont care if people think it was selfish.....it was OUR money and our day.
