Yes, as Glitterfairy said get in touch with your local council about it, if there is a website then have a look on there as well because there should be loads of advice and venues, (if there is a website).

Yeah u book it yourself, ring ur local one and they'll tell u where to go from there...some will only book from a yr before, some will book before that in advance for a price of around £15 ... U will need to give notice between the 1yr mark to 16 days beforehand cos u have to give notice for at least 15straight days, this costs £35 ish each and if ur both from same place u do this at ur office, otherwise u do it from the ones your both from, then the cost of the civil ceremony depends on the day of the week ur marrying, approx mon-thurs £299, ,fri £304, sat £344 and sun £304,this includes the price of ur wedding certificate which is £4 at the min I believe x

Yeh it is,it's worth a look if u go on the Internet,go on the website for ur local register office, all the info is on there, I did this this afternoon that's why I knew all the prices n stuff... Lucky that this post came up :-) ... Also ur better off getting in a preliminary date with them...I can't see when ur wedding is cos u haven't got ur page unblocked, but registrars do more than one wedding a day so getting ur time in ASAP will guarantee u won't have to get married earlier or later or have to change the day altogether if there's no one available to marry you ...x

Most venues will let you book the date provisionally and hold the date for a couple of weeks to give you time to book the reg and pay the deposit. The registrar will want to know the venue, so your best of doing that first. The earliest you will be able to give notice will be a year before your wedding day, and I believe you need to know the venue when you give notice.

Check with your registrar whens the earliest you can book a date - ours let you pay a deposit to book a slot for the registrar up to two years in advance, but this varies from district to district - some won't let you book until you give notice, but I think most will let you reserve a date before that.

    Xx

if its only in the next time you might both be in the same district so could be the same registrar office as your own town if you heck with the venue they will be able to tel you which office you need to book with.

i actually rang the wrong office for my venue as its not far away thought it was scunthorpe but its actually Lincoln.

kelbel where are you getting married have you booked your venue x

Our Registrar is £529! I phoned in August 2012 to enquire as to when we should book a Registrar for a July 2014 wedding & gave the lady the date & time of our wedding & there were only 2 slots left available!! So I would def phone as soon as you can & ask as a lot of brides have the same idea about getting in there early! We paid £50 deposit too xx

weve had the paperwork through to go through the vows/readings etc like you Ruth but thats it. we have to choose etc & then send it back within whatever date it is. and a reminder to pay by 12 wks before!
no talk of process... i think they do it in the interview in the morning of the wedding but not 100% sure!
glad im not the only 1... x
