    Hi everyone,

Can't seem to find an answer searching the forum or on the web...We gave our notice of marriage months ago and she gave us the form to fill in with readings, promises etc we choose, and a book of suggested readings, but this is all the information we have had.

Is there supposed to be another meeting with the registrar before the Wedding? I can't remember if it was mentioned when we gave notice. But otherwise how do we know how the ceremony will run, for instance if we decide to do order of services, how do we know what goes where, surely this needs to be discussed with the registrar? And what about a rehearsal, is this just for Church Weddings?

This all just occurred to me and I started to panic thinking I may not see the registrar again until 10 mins before the Wedding?!! xx

there will not be another meeting the form tells you what happens when . the order your choosing is the order the service will go in. and unfortunately you dont get a rehearsal either thats just churches. i hve been stressing baout the same things as i have no idea how long it will take me and the kids to get down the aisle etc but im going to pop up and pace the aisle length so i can practice somewhere else roughly! but the registra did tell us she is there to help so give her a ring if you need too. you will speak to them literally just before you get married as in on the day just to make sure nothing has changed!

One BIG day will lead to lots of little happy days !!

    In the front of our book there was an order in which things happen;

    Entrance
    Welcome and introduction
    Reading 1 (optional)
    Marriage is...
    Declaratory and contracting words
    Promises
    Reading 2 (optional)
    Exchange of rings
    Signing the register
    Presentation of certificate
    Closing words by the registrar

A rehearsal depends on your venue and if it is available the day before or not.

I'll have to go back to the book then and have a look, I have such OCD I dont know if I can handle not having another meeting lol, maybe I will phone them and see what they say! Im going to need to go over anyway to get them to sign my new passport form!

Thats a great idea about just practising the walk down elsewhere, if I get the length of the aisle, Im panicking that the song will be too short to get everyone down!

I'm the same as you Christie. But met 2 of the registrars from the borough that I will be getting married in at one of our venues wedding fairs so perhapsnyou could go to a wedding fair at your venue if they have one to meet and discuss with them?

Im glad Im not the only one who stresses about things like this!!! I always need details to help me relax lol! I suspect the venue will probably have seen it a hundred times to be able to queue the bridemaids on the day etc, but I think a practise will help put my mind at ease.

Christie Im sure all the same rules apply so If you speak to your local registrar they will tell you the same as the one marrying you?

Laura you havent got long now how exciting! xx

I don't know whether you can have another meeting but you would probably have to pay for their time, or else just phone and talk to them. Im having a rehearsal with our wedding party and wedding coordinator, so they they can make sure the registra know what will happen and that bms etc walk up ailse at correct pace, and everyone knows where to stand , when to sit etc
