Hello just wondering if any of you have got married in a registry office? If so... How was your experience? Was it expensive? Was it still as special?
We haven't got a lot of money and I am considering getting married at our local registry office... because at the end of the day I just want to marry the man I have loved for the past 7 years Thank you
Hi Katie, I think it may depend on whereabouts in the country you are. You could try looking at your council or local authority website, that was where I found the costs for a registrar when we were booking our wedding. I do remember that it was much less expensive to get married at the actual registry office than it was for a registrar to come to a venue. I went to a couple of registry office weddings a few years ago and they were both lovely. As you said yourself, the most important thing to you is that you marry each other hon xx

My sister is getting married at our local registry office this summer (as her h2b is German they needed to for legal requirements) and I don't think they are paying much for it, probably a few hundred with licence reprint costs and things. Best thing would be to contact your local registry office (you usually can from your local council website) for information.
Though we are having a church service instead, both my sister and I are renting village halls for our reception venue. My sister chose a large, spacious, modern hall where as I went for an older building - there are pics in my profile album - but they have both cost about £400 to rent for the whole weekend and even cheaper for a day.
I came into some some money so we are having caterers and cake makers and such but before then we were just planning to do a buffet and have family members bake cakes to have a nice party at a low cost. There are lots of different venues available when you start digging deeper, we found searching for 'event room hire' lead to some different and exciting options. Good luck! x

Thank you everyone! I think I will go and have a look and then decide x
I'm getting married in a registry office, areas some times are different. Mine was £20 to hold date, £245 for day, plus £35 each for registering then £4 per copy of licence. But my friend is getting married somewhere else and is paying £600 for registrar to attend. Most venues had quoted for the day but add register on top.

Take a look at your local Council Web site or if you are getting married in another area, you need to look at the Council for the area you are getting married in. Most registrars will have some sort of price guidance and will also advise of what info is required etc.
Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan

We are getting married at a registry office. Our local one is horrible looking though so we looked at registrys of close by councils and found one.mit is so lovely inside that you wouldn't even think it was a registry office. So you could look to see what types are available in surrounding nearby areas
