    Right.

I think this is in the right category.

    I was just wondering:
Do i invite the Reverend/Vicar to the Evening Reception, as we arent having a Wedding Breakfast. Or do they just do there own thing.

    Thanks in advance.

    xx

Usually it depends how close you are to him. If you are a church regular, I think it's nice, however at most of the weddings I've been to they've only stopped for a drink or two at the evening reception anyway.

Our vicar isn't coming, tbh I didn't even think of it. Plus we've only met him once

I wouldnt say you have to invite them, we wont be inviting ours, however as LauraJo says its all dependant on how you feel and how close you are to them i suppose.

I think it depends how close to them you are. don't feel obliged to ask them.

Thank you every one, i have only met her a couple of times, and i do go to church every week, so i am thinking that i should invite her for a drink if she wasn't busy. At least i asked.

Although we know our vicar quite well we haven't formally invited her but will say to her and all other church wardens etc helping out they are most welcome to come. We're not having a sit down meal so if they come or not it wont make too much difference.

I didn't invite mine 1) we weren't that close 2) he went in hospital the next day for an operation so wouldn't have come anyway. It's not normally custom to invite them but as the ladies already stated it depends on your relationship with them

GC2B that is true about Gestures of Kindness.

Cool. I am not that close to her, as she is new at the Church. But if i will just suggest and see what she thinks, and it is up to her if she would like to come for a drink and something to eat.

i think its a really nice gesture and it shows that you are interested in being part of the parish as appossed to just using the church as a venue. Other weddings i've been to the vicars have been really good fun at the receptions they have such good life stories to share :)

:) I noticed that also at other weddings, that is why i was thinking about suggesting it, as they were enjoying them selfs.

Traditionally, it is seen as polite and good etiquette to invite the vicar/reverend, after all he/she is the person who has performed the most important part of the day.

They don't always accept of course, it depends on what else they've got on!
