I've heard of it before but think its an load of old ***** If you looked into anything there would always be someone there to say something. Go for what you think looks right. If you listened to everything you would never get married.

we said it sounded silly so went with white roses throughout but put some berries in the girls bouquets anyway to add some red. Table decs are white roses, red berries and some black foliage thing that I cant remember now. Ws so excited... much easier than I thought to sort out ALL flowers.

I've not heard of that one before.
We're having a red and white colour scheme, which will include the flowers. But there'll be some winter berries and chillies in there too.
If you want it like that go for it. I know I won't be listening to that silly superstition!

Yes I've heard of it but I now it as Blood and Bandages and is one of the reasons I didn't have it as I'm full of bad luck so knowing my luck it would end up bad. But it's probably nothing!! My friend had red and white an her day was fine!! xx

Most traditions, superstitions, horoscopes atc only 'come true' because we focus on them so much and influence our behaviour towards that outcome. For example - telling yourself that you *will* lose weight and look fab on big day aids you to stick to your diet, exercise etc but if you niggle at yourself that you are rubbish at sticking to diets and will never get there ambushes your effort. Same with unlucky colours, seeing groom before wedding etc, it makes no difference unless you let it.

Yes, I've heard of this. At my Grandad's funeral, I asked my Mum if we could have red and white flowers as he supported Liverpool, but she said no because red and white represents blood and bandages. So the superstition exists to my knowledge but I think it is daft. My friend got married at Christmas and had red and white as her theme. I looked like Mother Christmas in my red dress and white faux-fur cape lol!

Yeah, I've heard of this. My mum always told me that red and white flowers together are funeral flowers. I guess this is what she was referring to. x

My grandma would have never let me. She says it is bad luck. "Blood and Bandages". According to her, this could be broken by placing another colour in the mix, even if it is out of sight. But mainly, she would remove one of the colours. I am having red roses, but definitely no white flowers in there. I can't help it - I don't feel like I can risk it. (An invitation to misfortune!!) Daft, eh?

I'm having red and white.. then again I'm starting a nursing degree in September so it's probably quite appropriate! :)

.."She'll promise you more than the Garden of Eden
Then she'll carelessly cut you and laugh while your bleeding
But she'll bring out the best and the worst you can be
Blame it all on yourself 'cos she's always a woman to me.."

I think it's another one of those silly susperstitions/old wives tales. Anyway Red is the color of love! have whatever bl**dy color you want to have! I'm sick of these silly florists trying to make people conform to what they think a wedding should be like!

Pfft, the only reason why I'm not doing red and white is because my sister did it for her wedding!

Additionally, in Pagan tradition, red and white symbolises the union between male and female. So its perfect for weddings!
