Hi girls, I'd like to ask you for your opinion about reception place.
We've chosen a castle for our reception. I was really happy as I will really feel as a princes. It took us two years to save money for the rent of that place. It has a main hall for dinner, small room for buffet in the night and another small room for dancing. Me and h2b don't dance so we agreed to have only first dance and we would rather spend the night by chatting with guests. Noone of my family doesn't dance too so they dont mind.

We've send the invitations short time ago and parner realized he has to invite more family members than he thought. I dont mind, we are still on budget. What concerns me now is that the added guests are young folks who want to party, dance etc so we would have to change the reception place as there's not enough room for 20+ people dancing. There's an alternative to book a nice hall from 18 century, but its not as nice as the castle and I just can't see myself to enjoy my one special day in my life there.

So don't know if I should go for the hall to make guests happy, but I'll lose my dream wedding or to be selfish, keep it in the castle, but for the price some of the guests would be probably really bored whole night.

H2b said I should choose what I want, he's happy with both options. So that didn't help me.lol

Any advice from you would be much appreciated xx

Keep your dream, it's your wedding and they can go party after or another time.

To be honest, if I thought my guests weren't there to share our happiness and big day the way we want it and would be bored and make that known I probably wouldn't want them there anyway...

Keep your dream venue. If they want to dance they'll manage it somehow, but it won't kill them to sit and talk instead. It's your wedding, so it's what you want that counts, not what your guests want. Although it might be worth finding out whether the main hall can be converted into a space for dancing after the meal, maybe if some tables are moved to the side.

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

The castle is very small and there are only 3 rooms open for public (which I described above). There will be only dinner tables and seats in the main hall, it can't be changed for the night for dancing as we cant move the tables. Theres very old wood floor and we could scratch it by the moving. Which is fair point I dont complain about it. Our best friends are country/folk musicians so they will probably play some old scottish songs after the lunch, but thats not really for dancing, only for listening and singing together. And yes, we will bring there some cd player for the background music.
I dont know I just feel like Im from another space :D everyone wants to party, only me to have a nice chatty cosy night :D

That sounds lovely :) I don't think anyone will get bored with music and good banter but its your day so it doesnt matter if they do as long as your happy and having a good time xxx
