I have recently got engaged :) and now we want to start planning our wedding. All we know is we would like to be married by the end of 2015. So my question is, where do we start? We don't have a massive budget as we are buying our house in the next few months.

    Any tips would be amazing.

    Thanks xxx

Congratulations and welcome to the site.

AS good a place to start would be to know what your budget will be, and for how many. That way you can then search for venues. You'll get some great ideas from here, especially if you are thinking about doing any DIY things.

Congratulations and welcome to the UKBride family. Once you've set your budget you need to choose your venue and date, as you can't book anything else until you know your date, and choosing your date means knowing when your chosen venue is free.

congrats! i would start with making an achievable budget and then list all the things you need to buy (good lists on here or internet) then scour around for the prices of the individual items, so you know you will be able to afford it all before you set a date. then you can go ahead and start booking your wedding date...

    Congrats,

I did my initial planning a bit backwards and chose a venue before thinking of a budget! But you should make a list of everything you think you'll need and how much your willing to spend on them - have a research on what they cost on average and where you can make/create your own as everything i looked into was more expensive than i'd initially thought so a rough idea of that would be good.

I would also recommend setting yourself a board up on that website that lets you 'pin' things you are 'interest'ed in! I had a wedding board, then got so into it its now dissolved into a cake board, a dress board, a decoration board etc. it really helped me get a clear idea of what I did and didn't want - i've never really thought about my wedding before starting to plan it!

Good luck!! looking round venues is great fun - especially all the free brews and biccies!

Congratulations.... the ladies have said it all really, although i never set a budget plan..... oops!! This is probably a good idea :)

Go with whatever you feel and as you have plenty of time hit the sales :) buy small and often, thats what i did. We got engaged Nov 2012 I bought lots of things in the January sale earlier this year and then booked/bought things throughout the year to spread the cost!!

This site is sooooo helpful with hints and tips.

Above all else - enjoy the planning and dont let the costs get you down, you only have 1 wedding :)

    xx

I have a really small budget of 1500, I've managed to have a Saturday wedding, the venue is cheap but I saved money on getting decorators to do it up for the day by having it in November, I've also managed to have 3 bridesmaids, a flower girl, sweet buffet, large buffet ( no sit Down meal), a dj, beautiful romantica wedding dress, veil, tiara the works. I saved a huge amount on flowers by using artificial. Our parents have contributed about 300 to the overall cost so that helped. I've also managed to stretch the budget to giving everyone a glass or two of sparkling wine on us, we have gone to pounland and bought tons of activity packs, colouring and arts and crafts for kids and sparklers to keep them happy. Our friend owns a hotel and has arranged for us to have the honeymoon suite free for the night of the wedding, my bridesmaid is making our cup cake tier as a gift and she is brilliant, her daughter is a photography student and is doing our pics, many college students will do it for next to nothing, it may not be what you imagined but some of them are very talented. I've also been able to do wedding favours etc. basically call in every favour your owed, don't be proud when people offer to contribute financially or otherwise ( this was a huge obstacle on h2b's part) and the internet is a great tool for bargain hunting. My sil2b is a hairdresser and nail technician so she is doung all our hair, make up and nails, she even went through a trial for me at absolutely no cost. I've put money aside for beauty treatments the week before. If you want any links or tips I'll be happy to help and congratulations :)
