Me and my h2b are huge rock/heavy metal fans and i would love us to have a wedding that suits us to the ground but i'm stupidly considering everyone else before us!

how on earth do you overcome the need to please and focus on yourselves? we dont want traditional romance for our first dance we want our own special version of it ;)

are there any rock/metal ballads you like? my housemate listens to this music and i must admit some of the ballads she's played are beautiful and i've enjoyed listening to them even tho my preferred music of choice is phil collins lol!! you can still incorporate metal into your day, even if it is a toned down version for your guests. Do what makes you happy hun. i'm sure your loved ones would much rather go a wedding that is personal to you and has your personality stamp on it xx

I say do it! Make your wedding a reflection of you & not what you think it should be. I'll leave a link on your wall to a wedding blog that you might find useful/inspirational.

I would love nothing more than to walk down the isle to highway to hell, but like you, do not wish to upset some people ( like the granny)! Im thinking an understated rock theme, maybe find a 'no lyrics version' of your favourite song!

Seriously I wouldnt do it in a massive way (music wise), unless most of my friends /family liked heavy metal too.
I think you can suit a wedding to your style in all kinds of ways - dress, decorations, favours, break every tradition going if it suits you but imho there are 2 things you have to do for your guests, feed them ok and give them a pleasant experience.
I could handle heavy metal music for short burst but if it played all evening, really, I'd leave early.

I see nothing wrong with you making your 1st dance anything you choose though - just not an entire evening x

We're having our registry office music based on heavy metal music but there softer stuff like Metallica's slowy nothing else matters.

And we're having metal music mixed in with now music for the evening do and our first dance song is based on a slipknot song lol, it's easily achieved if you're thinking of other people as well.

I'm having a similar problem :-/ I dislike pop music and anything like that and we really want to find something rock to dance too but i'm afraid of upsetting my mother and other guests. We've decided to go with a rock ballad or an acoustic version but now we can seem to agree on any!
Were giving a list to our DJ of the songs we want played during the night, but will have the usual cheesy and chart stuff to keep the guests happy too. So will have a mixture.
I'm walking down the aisle to a Tifa's song from Final Fantasy, its really lovely, and my mum will never guest its from a computer game haha.

i dont think id include much of it for the partying side of things, however anything goes for any other part of the wedding

Id do absolutely what i wanted for the whole day, i wouldnt give a rats about who i may or may not offend, id probably just be mindful of any swearing, and perhaps get it editted out or find a radio edit or summat.

the disco part of the evening, i would cater as much as i could to what will get people up and dancing. i will have definate NO - NO'S i dont care how many people rhianna will have up and dancing, i am not having that utter pish at my wedding. I will throw in the tunes i like but also get the 80's, 90's dancey cheesy stuff up, im pretty confident everyone likes those eras anything that people can throw out some shapes to and sing along badly too will be fine with me

what i wouldnt do is cater completely to my tastes when it comes to the music of the reception. but ONLY to that aspect of my day. As long as you have a mix there then i think it keeps everyone happy. everything else is mine. (and his too lol)

I would do what you want. surely your friends and family know you well enough by now!

plenty of metal at my wedding, black wedding dress and rituals throughout the ceremony. its your day do what you want!

listen to Apocalyptica's version of Nothing Else Matters to give you an idea of how you can include metal music without the thrash, its absolutely beautiful.

I agree that unless your friends and family are into it too, it would be best not to include it too much in the evening, as you'll risk people not dancing, or leaving early (I cannot stand heavy metal, it gives me a huge headache and I'd end up having to make my excuses and leave).

But, I see no reason why you can't include it for the ceremony, or your first dance, and also why you can't have it interspersed with other tracks at your reception (eg 1 heavy metal track for every 10 'regular' tracks). It's your wedding, and you should pick music you care about for those important things, like the ceremony and first dance.

I'm hoping to have Madness 'It Must be Love' as a surprise for OH for our first dance (OH loves Madness and ska music, and his uncle is in a tribute band; so, I'm planning on secretly asking his uncle to sing with our band (the dance would start with a different song that we've both picked and then change) as a surprise for him and his mum) and really don't give two stuffs what people think.

i wont go too much on the music at night cos of the dancing thing i like a good dance to cheesy rubbish! i wanna see tragic dance moves not broken noses ;)

everyone who knows us knows we are big into skulls and the darker side of things so they will be expecting that :)
