its disgusting that they do this type of thing but in a way I'm glad you got the email be accident as you would have been non the wiser and booked your wedding with them giving them you hard earned money to be looked down on. i would deffintly be telling them you don'tacceptt the crap apology and they obviously do discriminate as you have the email to prove it. deffintly go to you local paper and warn other brides that this happens there. unfortunately the only terms company's like this see is the profit margin so hit them were it hurts. xx
and how the hell they can say your not the sort clients they are looking for, how do they know what your back ground is all that should matter is that you can afford the venue. you cant tell someones background from looking at them.

Thank you for your input ladies, I can't believe a similar thing happened to your brother Milz, a lot of these people really do think they are royalty just because they work in a nice hotel.
I'm really glad I got the email too, it was heart breaking to read at first because I'd really set my heart on the venue, but now it just makes me want revenge!
I am educated to Masters level & I'm sure I could wipe the woman under the table if she really wanted to to challenge my undesirability...but that's another story!
If any of you ladies would like to know the name of the hotel I shall post it on your wall so you can make people aware that they will not be made welcome at this venue xx

Agree with absolutely everyone, that woman sounds vile and the venue managers don't sound like they're bothered at all. That woman should lose her job, there are hundreds of other more deserving and nicer people out there who could do it so much better I'm sure. And like others have said..... take it to the press, nobody should be treated like this, whether they know about it or not, think of all those other brides 2b out there who could be looked down on by this snooty cow! They don't deserve your money, and I'd go as far to say they don't deserve anyone's money if this sort of behaviour is ever practiced, even if it was only once!

I agree with krissy905, although it's a deeply hurtful thing to have received and completely unfounded, at least now you can go and choose another venue with a co-ordinator who'll treat you as you deserve and really make your day special - clearly this person wouldn't have so you've had a lucky escape. Argghhhhh so cross! Right firstly i've looked at their site and seen who they are owned by, so i will post that info on your wall. You must go higher than in house management as all they will try to do is exactly that, keep it in house! So you go to head office/ group owners etc. Once they find out all hell will break loose for this hideous venue! They will loose out serious cash people knowing this sort of information so you need to make sure their owners are fully aware of this. Don't discuss any further wil management, email the owners and let them know you are taking it public..

I am amazed at how calm you are about this, I would be taking it to the press and making sure they knew I was royally pi§§ed off! I felt some of the venues we went and had a look at were a bit snobbish towards us cuz we're both pierced and tattooed, but they NEVER implied they didn't want our business! I am absolutely appalled at the way this woman has treated you, no matter what her personal opinion about you it shouldn't play a part in how she does her job, or what you are "allowed" to spend your money on, not exactly the height of professionalism -_-

Thinking about this, it's descrimination - on what grounds they didn't specify, but if it was for something like race or disability (for example) which is specifically precluded by law, then there would be absolute hell on! People cannot be allowed to behave like this, and from the sounds of things its something management condone and actively support since the staff member was specifically seeking 'help' from them over it?? xxx

i agree with sprucey, take it to the owners this is completley out of order and should not be allowed...nobody has a right to judge and it sounds like she has been asked to do this by the management. i would seek legal advice regarding suing them for discrimination.

Ring the local paper and give them a back ground, they can normally tell you there an then if your story is worth running. I would definitly run this one though. Oh my god just doesnt cover this horrible woman!!

That is awful but if i were you i'd try and take advantage of it, if this is your dream venue then why should you sacrafice it because this woman thinks you're not good enough. She's nothing to you so her opinion doesnt matter, if you can get a massive discount i'd go for it. As a condition say that holding your wedding there that you want her to have nothing to do with it and you want this discount, if you dont get it then you'll go to the papers. She'll get more of a thrashing from her boss by putting them in this position and loosing money because of her, that'll be more punishment to her than giving her want she wanted in the first place by you not having it there. Be proud hun and show her that ur worth 10 of her and that her opinion doesnt matter because she's irrelevant!

How rude of them. I suggest you send a copy of that email to the head of the company. No one has the right to judge an individual like that. It is discrimination and therefore unacceptable.

How rude!!! Who the he'll does the woman think she is? Not being funny hun (and I never treat people differently in grounds of their job) buts she's a wedding co-ordinator! I very much doubt on her wages she would be able to afford the place she thinks your not good enough for.
I hope you name and shame them and put off any potential clients. It will be interesting to see how long they can stay afloat in the middle of a recession when that is their attitude. I say their as in order to feel comfortable asking this advice it was obviously a reflection of management as a whole.
Then for the management to advise that they don't discriminate in itself suggests that you are from some 'undesirable' background. Their attitude is out of order
