My MOH came up with this one! Holiday vouchers, so we won't have to pay for our honeymoon :)
So on the website and invite's i'll put money/ holiday vouchers for our gift suggestion. We honestly dont need anything else really, we have everything we need at home, also figured if each of our guests gives at least £10 quid then we'll have £1000 for the honeymoon :)

Yeah i was thinking that so thats where the vouchers come in, tbh most people would have given us argos vouchers anyway, so holiday ones seem better, and saves us having to find the money for a honeymoon, since were on a really tight budget anyway x

That's a good idea - we might do the same :) It's nice for your guests to know that they're sending you away somewhere wonderful and memorable too! x

We will be doing a kind of online wishing well type idea. As we're paying for the majority of the wedding ourselves, we will be asking for donations towards wedding/honeymoon as we've been living together for 5 years now and don't really need any of the usual housey stuff - although I have to admit, it will be a close run decision as to whether to use some of the money for a honeymoon or a new sofa - lol

we are on a tight budget aswell so what we have done is booked our honeymoon and are going to get up a honeymoon gifting service. this way guests can put money there directly themselves (makes them feel like they arent actually giving money) or give us cash for our spending money. xx

I have done the same as mrsbarkertobe, we are only having a minimoon in London after the wedding because we have a little'un, but the other half has promised a "dream cruise" when I finish university in 2014, so everyone's donations will be going towards that!

.."She'll promise you more than the Garden of Eden
Then she'll carelessly cut you and laugh while your bleeding
But she'll bring out the best and the worst you can be
Blame it all on yourself 'cos she's always a woman to me.."

We have asked for a contribution towards our honeymoon. I think people would rather give u something u want and need then something you dont want or dont need.

we love this idea but you need to pay honey money off 12 weeks before the date so if people dont give untill nearer the day then you need to have the money yourself. do i risk or not?

See what we're thinking is to go for a last minute deal with the vouchers, unless we raise enough before the 12 weeks, if it means my OH works a couple of days in between then its extra money for us x
