Dont be too hard on yourself- diets dont happen overnight and the first couple of days are always the hardest as you will still be craving the things that you are used to eating. you do have to be disciplined and eventually it will be easy as your stomach will shrink- and its highly likely that when you start seeing results you wont want things anyway. Im guessing no matter how big or small we all are we are all in the same boat. I put a stone on from november to now so am really trying hard. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! AND WELL DONE TO THOSE DOING WELL ALREADY X

Don't lose hope! I have 1 1/2 stone to lose and my wedding is at the beginning of June. I struggled on my own for 6 months and got nowhere so joined slimming world at the beginning of January and have lost almost half a stone already. I am also eating loads, probably more than I did before.

Its great fun and I can have some of the stuff I like and having the support of a group is really helping with motivation.

Hi hunni, just wanted to offer some words of encouragement, I constantly battle with my weight, I met H2b 9 months ago and in that time have gained 2 stone.......I am now battling to get it off again so that I dont feel like a fat bride. I am back at WW which is how I lost over 3 stone last time and although it doesnt work for everyone the motivation of going to a meeting, being weighed keeps me on the straight and narrow.
I have tried shakes and pills and I just end up ill, I tried Atkins and ended up in hospital!!
U can do it hun, as u r off work atm why not go walking each day, gets u out and about too xx

Hello! I feel exactly the same. I started dieting 3 weeks ago and I was trying really hard, excercising 5 times a week and was losing NOTHING! Everyone said it must be muscle so i tried my jeans on to see if they felt any better, NOPE! So i eat everything at the weekend!! I need to lose about a stone and i have one of those back bums in my dress too and i have found even though i have 9 months i am panicking that i wont do it already and will look bad in the photos. I am one of these people that needs to loose weight quickly in the 1st week or two to get me motivated so i have resorted to the cambridge diet this week. I have done it before and lost half a stone in the 1st week! So im thinking 2 weeks on that to get me going then healthy eating and excercise for the next 8 and a half months!

I get you hun I feel like a massive bloater. I looked at myself in the mirror this morning and cried because I won't be able to loose the weight in time despite my hard work and efforts. My friend has offered that I can go jogging with her but I hate jogging! I can't find anyone to play tennis or football or basketball with and the way my skills session has fallen I can't go to judo either! :( I'm so upset and stressed I keep crying. H2b is really worried as I wont eat as every time I go to eat I feel sick thinking about my weight. I just cant do it I know I wont get down to my ideal weight so I dont know why I keep trying. I really need a pep talk but h2b doesn't want to help in case he makes things worse! :( xxx

Hi girls.. just thought Id update you on how Im doing today.. well, absolutely rubbish! I've had the worst headache since yesterday morning and lots of people reckon its down to me starting the shakes and not having proper meals so this morning I had a bowl of porridge and then my mum popped round with a sausage roll from greggs :-\ opps. But eating something made me feel loads better so Im thinking to give up the shakes already! I now have lots of healthy food in the cupboards etc and all the crap has been chucked. I have a new enthusiasm for it and even looked at getting some weights etc for the bingo wings! I'm going swimming tomorrow with my pregnant sister but shes worrying she has no swim costume that will fit her, so even if she decides she isn't coming, I'm still going! I need to stop relying on other people. So many people have said I look great in my dress and it made me feel lovely so I thank everyone for that. I think we all need a bit of support and a kick up the butt and we can all do it! I'm going to be a beautiful bride and fingers crossed a mummy one day :-) we can do it!! x x x x

    p.s just downloaded myfitnesspal!! :-)

I need to lose about 5 stone to get to my goal weight but i'm not aiming to lose that much before the wedding (unless it happens of course) I joined weightwatchers last week (again) and in my first week i've had a macdonalds and lots of treats but i'm still within my points. If i deny myself something i only want it more so aslong as its in my daily/weekly allowance i can have these things.

Even if you don't lose weight if you get a dress that flatters your figure then it doesn't matter. When I put on my dress you can't tell that I'm a size 18 because it looks like the dress and not me. Dresses that gather to the side and pleat hide a multitude of sins and don't show rolls of fat when you sit down ;0)

Go for a dress that works with you not against you. I've tried on some and they make even stick insects look fat so go for well shaped dresses.

i was going to say slimming world. you can still eat near enough what you want so you dont really crave anything. i didnt read all the posts cos there are quite a few but is it much weight you want to lose.

have you heard of lighter life. i know 3 people that have done it and one of my friends has started it last week. she has already lost half stone...just an idea for you!! xx

I have about 5 stone I'd like to loose but I know unless I take serious drastic measure that isn't going to happen. I have heard of lighterlife, my aunt has done it many times and the weight always comes back on. Its far too expensive for me too, with the wedding and saving for IVF I really couldn't spend 50 odd quid a week on it. I have got all the stuff to do the biggest looser diet which is the same as lighter life but you have an evening meal but it was giving me really bad headaches!!

I went out lunchtime and bought half of the fruit section at tesco's as snacks. In the morning I get a banana and apple and cut them up and put them in a bowl on my desk, then I can just delve into that all morning.
My new x trainer / exercise bike has arrived today so I'll be building up to 20 k a night like I used to do, it'll probably take me a few weeks to build up the leg strength to do that, it takes about an hour but burns 1500 cals.

I'm by far a skinny person and to be honest ok I'm not 100% happy with my figure but at the end of the day I'm not making a giant fuss about things. My motto is "if I lose weight great, if I don't so what" - Thankfully I fit into my dress as it was my size when I bought it.

I know I could make a lot more effort into losing weight than I do but I think getting on with jobs and stuff overshadows it. I eat healthily to a point. Meaning if I really want something I have it, although I have been putting £1's away instead of buying chocolate and things which also add towards wedding costs. I enjoy my vegetables but don't stop myself having curry or whatever although its not as bad as we make it at home from scratch. Chips are a once in a while thing usually once or twice a month so it's not crippling me or leaving me with cravings.

My exercise isn't really that existant, I have 2 dogs I take for a walk regularly and I work as a lunchtime assistant everyday so end up on my feet walking about for 2 hours. Then I also am a private carer and end up at my in-laws for hours doing housework which can be hardwork too.

Yes I do like to sit in front of the telly or computer for a few hours but I don't pig out on food while I do that, however I do keep myself hydrated which means lots of toilet breaks necessary.

Granted I have made an effort and re-started to see my health trainer who I lost some weight with last time and my first appointment is next Friday and I also need to pick up taking my MIL(2B) swimming again (she's disabled and needs someone with her and its exercise for us both) in which I have to do usually 20 laps of the pool if not more it got cancelled just before Xmas when I ended up rottenly ill and we have both since said we need to get back to it just the cold weather makes us a bit reluctant as the swimming baths aren't that warm. I know excuses in some ways but we've got plenty of wedding planning to do anyway so it keeps us occupied.

Just because you're not skinny doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you - don't beat yourselves up about it - I'm not.

Feel like I've let myself down by just missing breakfast wish I suppose in a way its good as now I won't let myself miss it again but its silly I'm feeling a failure just over breakfast!! But it was just breakfast, I can make up for it for the rest of the day. I also visited an aunt I havent seen since last august and she said "wow you've lost loads of weight".. so all good really lol why am I moaning right now lol?!?!!

Why don't you try keeping cereal bars in your bag, then if you can't have breakfast you can have one of those. Oat based ones are good, they have more calories generally than others but they fill you up for a lot longer.

OK, Operation wedding dress commences today. I cycled to and from work in the wind and as soon as I got in I did 20k (13 miles) on the x trainer in 48 minutes and then I had a small healthy tea of chicken and spinach, cherry toms and mushrooms in garlic butter. Yum yum!
It should have started yesterday but had to have dinner at MIL2b who decided to feed us the same amount of food as consumed by a small 3rd world country last year! This was after I told her we were both eating smaller portions. I give up with her.

I just bought the "I can make you thin" book or whatever it's called to have a read through, and I have another game for the Wii turning up soon which scans you in via a little camera and tells you if you're exercising properly - can't wait!
