I mentioned to my grandma about ordering artificial flowers in the next couple of days and she said it's traditional to have real ones and put them on a loved ones graves after. I never heard of it. Has anyone else? I think it would be a lovely idea.

I've not heard of that before. To be honest I think it's entirely up to you what you do, some people have artificial, some have real and keep/preserve them after. If you want artificial flowers but still want to lay some on a grave then you can always have a fresh arrangement made up to match for the top table or something and lay those.

We're having artificial, but are laying fresh flowers on h2bs grandma and grandads grave after our ceremony because they obviously won't be there. It's also a nice gesture for his family as the last time they were all at our church was for their funerals x

I've heard of this but I can't think where.... It's a lovely idea.... If there's someone you care enough about that has died. And hasn't been cremated come to think of it. My gran was so there's no one else I'd have a grave to leave mine on

    I'm having paper flowers anyway....

I heard this but its up to the person. We are not putting flowers down for my nan as she was cremated. So instead we are having a blue dragon flower arrangement at the ceremony and reception. ( I gave her that nick name at two. As she loved it. Not that she was a dragon she just lived near a blue dragon. Lol.) And at the end each one of my family will be taking a blue flower home with them in her memory. Xxxx

My mum will lay my bouquet on my dads grave for me. She lives 100 miles away so that's why I can't do it- she will once she gets back from the wedding. One of the bridesmaids bouquets will go on the plaque in the funeral home for my late father in law (2b!).

Such lovely ideas and caring touches. The only reason why I wanted artifical, was because I did not want to waste money on real flowers, that I would just throw in the bin after, so I think this is a lovely idea.
