Not sure if this is the right category, but we've chosen a reading we'd like for our ceremony - however, we don't think there's anyone appropriate to read it - the most important people are already involved in other ways. Do registrars ever do readings - are they allowed? Is it not usual or perfectly acceptable to ask them when we go for our final details meeting on tuesday?

I was told that if there realy wasn't anyone else then the registrar may do one at ours if she feels it's appropriate to read it out. Basically if she doesn't like it she wont read it! :( if you stress to them that you've no one to read and and see what they think and just ask if they're willing to do it x

There must be someone you can ask? An aunt, uncle, cousin?

I would involve a friend who maybe wasn't asked to be best man or a girl friend you couldn't have as a bridesmaid so they are still included x

even if the rest of your bridal party have other things to do surely one of them would be willing to do the reading aswell, there isnt anything else going on at that specific time and I would think it would be much more personal and special for you to have someone you know do the reading rather than an unknown registrar who wont read it with any feeling or sentiment. Hope you manage to sort soemthing out x x

We're having a fairly small ceremony, not even having bridesmaids or groomsmen apart from BM and 'MOH'. All our immediate family are involved, and I don't have any close friends, and H2B doesn't doesn't want to ask any of his friends. Getting a bit sad about the lack of people I actually want at the ceremony :(
