The best man has asked me to check his speech in advance because he wants to make sure it does not go too far! I can see that he might be the sort of person who would not know where the boundaries are, but I think the speeches are meant to be a surprise and don't want to know in advance. I said no and suggested he check with a male friend of mine who knows me well and where I will draw the line....makes me wonder what the hell he's planning on!
I was wondering - is anyone else seeing speeches in advance?

i think it would ruin the effect if you already knew what the BM was going to say. Our toastmaster is lovely and has offered to help all the men with their speeches and proof read them, offer suggestions etc so I will trust him to make sure they are appropriate! x

I trust all our men. The Best mans wife will probably check his if hes worried. My mum will probablt sneak a look at my dads. And Pidge knows how to behave in polite society.

Good god no.... Atleast if i don't know what there saying then i can sink into my chair in embarasment.
Yep, glad it's not just me! I don't mind if the speech is a little bit risque, as long as it's funny, so will continue to refer the best man to m friend who will know juuuussst where to draw the line and what I will find funny!

Think u made a good decision there Hoxxy...think I would have done the same....bless him, he must be nervous!!!!xxx
CommentAuthorDrunchPunk
Hmm, I can't imagine him being nervous! But he is probably aware that he occasionally has boundary issues :D Bless 'im.
I agree, get your mate to read it, if you don't want to!
(BTW - Hoxx, you know he's BM at ours too?! He's said the same to me..)

I'm pretty certain that whatever they got me to check would not be what they read out anyway hehehehe. I trust the men completely...no doubt my dad will embarass me but I'm expecting that so I may be surprised hehehehe xx

:)
He did mention that he was BM at yours too, but he said it in the context of it being Jason's wedding so I had to set him straight as to whose wedding it really is ;) I'm sure it'll be fine. Had not even crossed my mind until he asked. I feel better now knowing that he asked you too, and that there is nothing particularly shocking planned for ours! I assume you said no too?
He's a popular choice! x

Good plan!! x

Absolutely, it's not Jason's wedding! Pah..
I've not given it much thought, to be honest - I don't think there's a great deal of embarrassing stuff he can say about Jason (nothing that's true anyway..). He's one of the BMs at ours because I think Jason's brother should be best man. But he's not really a 'speech' sort of person, and Chris is about the only of Jason's friends capable of speaking coherently to a crowd of people.. (There were some vetoes I put in place before we even started)
CommentAuthorDrunchPunk
Well I was going to suggest I check his speech for Hoxxy's wedding, but while I know Chris C and his boundary issues, I don't think I know you well enough Hoxx to know what you'd find funny and what's too far!
CommentAuthorDrunchPunk
So it's probably better that you stick with your friend who DOES know what's too much :)
CommentAuthorHoxxyhula
:) I'm fairly relaxed about these things. My nan on the other hand! Actually to be fair, my nan is too. x

I imagine he's got a lot more on your H2b than he does on mine :D
CommentAuthorDrunchPunk
I think I might read it, to make sure it's not just a constant stream of references to wargames :P

Haha Lemon! Yeah, it was a coincidence. I've met Hoxxy's H2b since then, as well. He's very nice :)

CommentAuthorHoxxyhula
