It doesn't matter who tried it on before you bought it, when it is your dress thats it, no-one else is supposed to wear it. Me and my sister are always swapping clothes etc and I saw her look at my dress like she wanted to try it on when I showed her it and I said straight away NO!

Do you have another friend or relative you could leave it with, doesn't have to be a member of the bridal party.

Its digusting that your aunt let her friend try it on . People who tried it on before you brought it does not matter but you will never be able to forget the imagine of your aunts friend in your dressout of your mind.
I would if possible leave your dress with a close friend or relative who can be trusted to know better.

Ok, so I can understand the logic of it was on sale in a store it would be put on by all and sundry, but with that thinking once it has been paid for (even simply a deposit placed) the dress is put in storage, labelled and no one can touch it except the new 'rightful' owner, for fittings or anything else etc. It covers their bums if damage occurs.

This was your dress, it was no longer for sale and was NOT in a store and therefore should have been left alone unless you asked about it. What would they have done if it had been damaged while the other girl had been putting it on/taking it off, having photos done. I have looked at the gowns of a couple of women I know who are gtting married soon and all I needed was to see them on the hangers, not to put them on and parade about in them. I would be disgusted if I found out this had been done to my dress especially when it was someone I trusted enough to keep it safe and like others have said would go and possibly have a go at the person, remove it from their 'safe-keeping' and in a complete flounce. Regardless if they had paid for it or not! They would have broken my trust for one thing.

    Sorry rant over hehehe.

I also cannot believe that she could do that. It doesn't matter if other people have worn it you don't want people you know seeing what your dress is like let alone wearing it before you. It has nothing to do with your aunt the way it falls etc and you can check a dress without wearing it. I wouldn't have it in the attic as the temperature differences can ruin the fabric. You need to try and keep it in the main of the house. Keep asking friends and family etc if there is anywhere you can store it with them. You can always get a cloth cover for it that has a double zip on it and then put a padlock on it so no one can get in it other than you without cutting it all open.

Thanks Jo, I hadnt thought about temperature differences in the attic etc! Will definitely have to look for one of those padlockable dress covers - its a shame it will have to come to that though!

It is a shame it has to come to that but at least it will put your mind at rest that no one else will see or wear it.

If I found out someone else had worn it before me (after id bought it) Id disown it, and the person who'd have let it happen. Its personal boundaries completely broken, as well as your trust with your aunt, including the fact that she sees no problem with it. Im sure you love your aunt to bits but not understanding the problem altogether is a little niave of her.
I wouldnt wear it full stop after that, I wouldnt care how much shes just f-ing paid for it. I'd be outraged.
