Wedding Forum - Qwirky or tacky?...

Ok, it's no secret I am gay,
and being your typical lesbian i LOVE CONVERSE shoes lol, so does my gf.

Now...we have seen it done many times beffore, but is it REALLY qwirky to wear them to a wedding, or plain tacky?

Thinking white for us, decorated with some hotfix gems in babypink (our colours)

then letting the male attendants wear white or baby pink ones....

just REALLY cant decide on this one at all, and I know everyone has thier own views...

it isnt a posh wedding, just a registry office and working mens club hall.... and think of the comfort of no heels!
My partner CAN NOT walk in heels at all, and I can depending on how good or bad my arhtirtis is on the day....

would apreciate thoughts on this!

I think matching converse would be really cute, especially since they fit in with your likes and personalities. I'd say go for it!

I'm all for quirky touches, who cares if anyone else thinks it's tacky! Long as you like the idea it's all good :)

I have white converse :D Ive put the blue 'I DO' stick on gems on the back and I'm replacing the laces with actual lace (Think Father of the Bride film where steve martin makes them for his daughter) so Im all for them! And if you match then its even more personal to you both! Go for it!

yes we were thinking organza ribbons for laces, in baby pink of course....
not seen the I DO gems, but we do plan to use baby pink gems anyway, and i love butterflies so thinking maybe one on each shoe too...

i would say go for it to my niece wore trainers under her prom dress the other year they were pretty ones with pink hotfix on every one else was moaning about there shoes hurting but she was dancing all night long lol still wears them now 2 years on my sister bought wedding shoes for her wedding but she to doesn't wear heals often her feet wear killing and she changed in to her trainers as soon as she got to the reception venue im going to have flat or low heeled shoes for my wedding i love heals but they dont love me any longer Lol

if that is what you want and will be comfy in then go for it!

Converse are neither tacky nor quirky. And fairly often worn at weddings no matter what the se.xual orientation is.

I LOVE converse and will have a turquoise pair for the wedding or maybe due to money wear my good old red ones later on. I'm trying to convince h2b to wear Converse all day but he keeps swaying from being reluctant to living ut to beung reluctant again. His lesbian sister who is the best woman loves the idea because she lives in them :-)

I think it is an assumption people make, but honestly loads of people wear them anyway.
but then if i lived to my straight firends rules i would be wearing dungarees and plaid shirts, a shed load of wristbands, converse and covered in tattoo's, oh hang on....i am ALMOST covered in them ha ha ha, well i only have 6!

plus according to my friends, i am old so need comfort at my age :)

I love this idea!!!!! Do it! Definetly with you on the no heels thing lol I want something funky for my bridal shoes, thinking more 'Irregular Choice' shoes which are very comfy and colourful! xxx

definitely do it! I'm hoping I can have 2 pairs for the day, hopefully a pair of irregular choice shoes for my ceremony and then a pair of converse for the evening. Both pairs can be worn again for special occasions so I'll always remember my big day!

Me too, i HAD loads until someone threw them out accidnetally, dunno if the wrong bag got sent to the charity shop but my green ones went missing, my pink ones i ended up with one and the blacks vanished too!

I Love it! Fantastic idea re organza lace laces. Also, you will have the added benefit of being able to wear them again and again- much cheaper when worked out at price per wear.

True fact ladies: lesbians love converse. I can confirm even femme ones like me :-) . Mine are zebra print in sequins but they won't be making an appearance at the wedding. Hoping for some Manolo Blahniks...

no she isnt! She's a size and a half smaller... not sure if i am brace enough to wear one of each...BUT i could buy one of each and see how i feel, theyre cheap enough

whole weddings gonna be nuts, we are having a cake covered in dolly mixtures, crazy but fun..rainbow umbrellas we plan to use in some photos, we may even go for photos on top of the local ferry ha ha

Nice dress! I'd still opt for pink ones - more eye catching when they peek.

I cant wear heels (thanks to a medical problem with my feet and a complete lack of any type of balancing skills!) so have been contemplating converse myself and think its a really good idea. I saw some gorgeous ones that had ribbon laces and embroidery on that i'm thinking about, either that or a pair of white Dr Martens!

i DO wear sparkly high heels on other special occasions, and USED to wear heels a lot, on nights out getting all dressed up with boob lifter bra's, high heels, sparkly tops............and spending the whole night shifting about in my bra, taking my heels off and feeling a goon lol I Must say i think gay girls have SOOOOO got the right idea, going out for a night in comfy clothes and shoes lol

i do LOVE sparkly heels, i have to say, but when it comes to the actual wearing of them I am a bit unsure on this. BEing my wedding day i dont want to need to use my walking stick or take my shoes off because my knees or hips are bad!
(though i plan to decorate my stick anyway just in case!)

but the converse are kinda funky and just so typical us!

pricelss shoes have copies of the ankle ones for under £3 a pair AND have them in baby pink too. But i have boat feet (8 or 9 depending on the fit) so will be lucky if anywhere local has any, though i do plan to look.
Add some organza ribbon and oooohhhhh sparklies and voila!

I have looked at the create your own, but honestly theyre over my budget (sick of hearing myself say that now lol)
but i am deffo going for this, going shopping tomorrow after the hospital!
