Well ladies we have a meeting with our minister tonight at his home I know he will ask things like Why a church wedding etc etc what other things will he ask? The reason I'm asking is although i'm good on the spot and would be able to answer any questions he has I think it would be best to prepare my lovely groom as he's generally the quiet type and leaves me to do all the talking. I want the minister to know we are BOTH serious and know the minister will want to hear what h2b has to say on the subject too.

    So any help appreciated xXx

By the way the reason for the church is its "halfway point" between our home towns hehe and its so beautiful (minister is happy with that lol, he's even happy to let us bring along our own minister but think we'll be fine with him)

sounds so nice nic... take your money and ignore you haha

round these parts the ministers seem to be 50% old fashioned and the other 50% have modern views so no idea what we're gonna get but if he's the old fashioned type we need to convince him we deserve to get married in a church lol

Maybe a good idea to pick up a bible and have a quote of why you want to get married?? I actually looked in one this weekend and it had a contents page for reference to all life things.

Could say you follow a christian lifestyle and appreciate christian values such as love thy neighbour and urmmm..thou shalt not steal. I don't regularly go to church but I pray in my own way (FOR G'ds Sake) and I know that when we consemate our marriage and bring children into God's world I know I will want to have them Christened to remove the original sin, and I will love the togetherness of belonging to church groups such as mother and toddler groups not just because the coffees cheaper there than at the Jungle jims.

Just having brushed up on some Christian beliefs may warm him that you respect his religion and don't just want to get married there coz its a pretty building??

Well Ladies, I'm back and it went fab. The minister was fantastic and welcomed us into his home :D he was brilliant with the kids which got a big thumbs up for me cause thats vital for us. We want to include the kids in the day and if the minister have have been not very child friendly i think we'd have been looking at going elsewhere!

Ohhhh and it's only £200 to get married there (not including the organist he arranges his ow payments and fees it seems)

And for claireclaire's benefit he didnt ask many religious related questions *phew* he asked:

    Why a church wedding
    Why that exact church
What our "religious" back ground was like (ie did we go to church were we baptised)
What we want for our ceremony
And just general questions for his forms like our names, occupations date of birth etc.

Most of it was advice rather than questions, we've also been invited along to a church féte in 2 weeks time which will be lovely there's a bouncy castle and everything. I'd also said I'd like to attend church but as the kids are so small its a bit of a hassle, he said his church has a creche in it and I am welcome any week i can manage it (seeing as I dont drive and it's far away) even though i'm not from the area.

All excited now its feeling more and more real!!!!!

I'm so pleased it all went well for you!! I remember panicing like mad when we first met our Reverend - Ross is an Atheist who has only ever been to church once and I denounced my Methodism after my Gran died :S Lucky for us he's a really cool guy, he said his only concern was that we were getting married because we wanted to make that commitment to each other and we understood that for life means exactly that.

Full steam ahead for you 2 now - this is where the madness really begins lol

@ Rags - I grew up in a Methodist congregation and getting married in my old church. Word of warning - some of the Methodist Reverends will only marry couples who are active in their church/diocese and won't accept "My Gran's a Methodist" as a form of leverage. You might want to check that out

Thanks Kerrylou. When I get wheels back I'm going to go to a sunday service and see if I can arrange a meeting with the rev. I want to know what the atmosphere is like before I meet her. I wouldn't be offended being told I had to attend in order to get married there. I work shifts and will explain that, then just ask for all sunday shifts lol!
