I was really wanting a quartet for our ceremony and drinks reception but h2b isn't keen on the idea. I am on a website letting him hear one at the moment as they play modern music which he didn't realise and is now starting to kinda come round. What else could we have as we are getting married in the hotel and I don't want to walk down the aisle to an ipod?? xx

What about a harpist? Its only one person to pay!x

Oh yeh, never thought about that but do they play modern music? xx

they could do if you asked. as all songs can be made into instrumental versions. so worth an ask.
even if there is someone in the family who has a really nice voice they could sing for you, that way its much more personal

I've just been to a wedding were they had a string quartet playing modern music which was great. They walked down the aisle to Elbow and it sounded fantastic! xx
I have found a pianist who will work anywhere in the country who has an amazing selection of samples on his website. I asked him for a quote and he is cheaper than a string quartet. He will also play any song you want him to (as long as appropriate) and has loads of modern tunes.
Let me know if you want his details. I know he's based in the south somewhere but I'm pretty certain he will travel.

We're having a quartet play at our wedding. After going to a wedding where there was a cd player that had problems every time play was pressed I decided I didn't want that. They do a very good collection of classical and modern stuff. I'm walking down the ailse to Aerosmith's don't want to miss a thing :) Not sure what we're walking back down the aisle to though as we can't decide lol
These 4 ladies are based in Yorkshire but will travel. Let me know if you want their details x

we were told the quartet set the scene at our wedding so see if he can hear one live? If not, then prob best bet is a harpist or a singer but be careful the singer is not too loud. ?

Thanx J & Clare but I'm in Central Scotland, think it might be too far for them to travel hehe.
Yeh suzky, that would be an good idea, got a few wedding shows coming up so hopefully they might have one as I think it would be lovely xx

Why not contact the venue's holding the wedding fayres and ask if they've got a quartet attending? You mau not be the only people wanting to possibly book one so it may prompt them to get one booked in for the sow. Worth a try asking ;) x

As we're paying for our quartet by the hour. we were going to get them to play for the ceremony and then we're asking them for a disc of their other stuff to play at the reception. Wont sound exactly the same I know but at least I know I'll be able to rely on them playing the right stuff at the right time for the service and will save pennies by not having them there for the reception x
