My H2B and I have a beautiful 18 month old Jack Russell cross who we want to be our ring bearer. I know it's a silly idea but we would love to have him involved in the wedding somehow as he is our baby <3 The only issue I'm worried about is that he won't be allowed in the venue we eventually pick. What do you think the likelihood is of us being able to have him in the ceremony? :/

I think it really depends on your venue and whomever is officiating your wedding. It doesn't hurt to ask.

We are having our reception at a dog-friendly hotel. We didn't pick it for that reason, but we have been made aware of it. Why not ask the venue when you call them before you look around?

I too am having dogs involved, my baby as the maid of honour! And my neighbours boys as ushers, I think it will be hilarious!
When I looked at my original venue, they had one part not for dogs and another for dogs with dog friendly rooms etc which was fab ad it was a national trust historic manor! I havnt outright asked my church... I think its a no so I may sneak them in on the sly lol

I will probably have to call in advance as we are having a winter wedding. X

the registrar can also veto it...a friend wanted to do something similar but the registrar refused, even though the hotel allowed it. They said that they felt it detracted from 'a solemn occasion'.
I think its a lovely idea though...however would be a bit concerned about the practicalities - new place, lots of strange people, excitement in the air could make for a dog barking all through the ceromony. Also, my niece is absolutely terrified of dogs, so much so that she wouldn't go in the room if there was a dog in it, might not be an issue for you though, just a thought.
Also, someone's going to have to leave the wedding to take him home, presumably? Xx

If your having a church ceremony a doubt they will say yes unless the vicar has a really great sense of humor!

The official COE wedding website has a quick blurb about a couple that included their two labs in their wedding. Vicar's a dog owner though...

Thank you, Fern! I am really hoping that we can! We aren't having a religious ceremony so I'm hoping that we can have him -fingers crossed- x

Do you have any specific venues in mind?
CommentAuthorAlmostMrsHouse
Not yet, we have seen a really nice hotel that is pretty affordable. x
