I always dreamed of a romantic proposal but my h2b doesnt do romance.

I was looking at engagement rings with my sister online one evening in september when I found one I liked, later on that evening my h2b said I will give you the money and you can go buy it if you like, I accepted his offer and went and ordered the ring it arrived on 23rd Sept 10. I gave him the ring to put away until he was ready to propose but we book a holiday and he said he wanted to get married there so we started looking into it anyway those plans have changed we are now planning to marry here in april 2012 just before we go on holiday, but he still hasnt proposed. I asked him a few days ago about the proposal and he said well i'll ask you now if you want or you can just get ring when ever you want it


We have been away on a mini cruise and had romantic evenings in which I have arranged but still nothing. Should I just accept that the offer to buy the ring was my proposal or is there a way I could promt him

make it nice and romantic buy him a nice ring and do it! Then you can both have rings :-)

Its kind of hard to have a serious conversation about it with him as I think he gets nervous and starts been sarcastic or making a joke of things
Its just sometimes I start wondering if he wants to marry me or if hes just doing it because he knows its what I want. Think i over analyse things sometimes

Plus I still love the idea of a romantic proposal xx

We all have our moments of h2b-being-not-very-romantic. I always thought the first time a guy said "I love you" to me would be so romantic... my h2b told me on an msn conversation and promptly logged out *eyeroll*. Did it back to him the following day. Muahaha.

If he's got any female friends (or you have mutuals or a friend of yours who wouldn't mind), get them to make the suggestion, perhaps? Sometimes they need that little nudge.
H2b was too scared to kiss me when we first started going out (he thought I'm slap him and start blowing my rape whistle... no, not kidding!) so, unknown to me, my girlfriends kept telling him to do it the whole evening of my birthday. He surprised me at the end of the evening with a kiss :D

i really wanted the big romantic proposal but it didnt quite work out that way but i look back and think awww...our son was 6 months old at the time ..and it was my 21st birthday in 2008 and he asked me up to the room, went in and mike held lucas up holding my card then told me to put lucas on the bed so i did..turned around and he was on his knee and asked me to marry him lol i cried...

my brother proposed to his fiance in new york on a candlelit cruise around the statue of liberty..at the time i thought wow puts my proposal to shame..but then i thought no ...all proposals are special

my h2b proposed kind of suppose we might as well get married i said no cos he didnt do it right and had no ring, so i bought the ring gave it to him and said do it better as he was gutted that i said no lol, and the second time round he went down on one ring and said so will ya lol,not the most romantic i dont even get valentines cards or flowers

my brother did go OTT and tbh shocked us all cause he really doesn't seem to be the romantic type lol

My H2B never proposed either....

When i met him at 36... He said to me.. what are my goals in life... I told him a few and added at the end if i wasnt remarried at 40 then id never do it again... Nothing else was ever said about it.... until my 39th birthday...

i had my third driving test on my 39th birthday, and passed it lol... i got my driving instructor to drop me off at his work so i could pinch the car.... he then said..
we ought to go shopping tonight for food... i said ok... we went food shopping then we looked around some other shops, and walked passed a jewelery shop... i looked in the window and there was some gorgeous rings, i said ooo i like that one.. he said ok go buy it, it will be your engagement ring..

And they say romance is dead pmsl!!!

My h2b took me to town to go shopping for a ring he was going to do it xmas day found my ring then i had to go to hospital (typical of me to ruin the moments lol) When i was waiting for my prescription he went back to town to fetch a teddy and a rose when he got back home he got down on one knee and asked :D

his plan was to get engaged xmas day but as my sister had just 3 weeks before split with her fiance thought it wouldnt be fair on her! and did it on the day he did as i was depressed because of my problems with bleeding :( Cheered me up though :D

well my h2b wasnt very romantic either... he knew already straight from the start i wanted kids, getting married getting settled asap... well silly me ruined actually the surprise... :S coz he was acting weird like he is hiding something so well... long story short... on one evening in january i was asking why he is acting so strange... and he didnt wanna say... but coz he was a bit drunk i was like "u wanna propose to me" and he was so gutted and bit sad i think that i guessed... as i wasnt supposed to know :S well but as he is bad liar he couldnt just say no ur wrong... he was showing me a few days later the ring he was looking at on the internet... but couldnt decide which one... as i had a really horrible day at work he showed me the once he was looking at to cheer me up... did like 2 of them but he tried getting it when ever but couldnt get it in my size was gutted again :S and nearly wanted to nt look anymore around so after his first trial went wrong we went together to look for a ring and i picked it basicly myself was suppose to get the proposal on valentines day this year didnt work out as the ring was delayed... so he proposed actually the wrong moment wrong time... and i actually knew what was going on... he picked me up from my first shift for lunch time said we really have to go into town, also he said he had something in the glove compartment for me... was only my passport :S i was waiting for as i applied for my provisional license ... :S was a bit sad though at that moment... but he really said he is in a hurry to get into town and go to costa were we had our first date... it was so full and crowded that h2b was so nervous that he asked me only with out any fuss if i wanna marry him and as he was embarrassed he actually threw the ring box in my direction as he didnt want anyone to see :D haha sweet in some ways but not the most romantic proposal in the world but thats just him... his way... and I can live with that funny though would have been more romantic if i'd not known :D

I keep saying its cos hes short a pair....

H2B says hes waiting for the right time, but we have had ring 8+ months so surely there could have been plenty of right times since we got ring I could list a good few.

it feels important to me as I have already been married once which I did for all the wrong reasons not one of them love and it sticks in my mind that how do I know this is what he really wants if hes doesnt even ask me. I sometimes wonder is he doing it cos he wants to or cos he knows I want to x

We were in Majorca when hubby to be proposed...took me out for dinner to a place that sold my favourite food then after meal i went to toilet and when i came back he was down on one knee with a ring in his hand...i cried buckets (even forgot to give an answer to later on when we were in bed lol)

My best mate got married last november and she didnt get proposed to, we were out drunk and he said im gone marry this lady one day and few weeks later she was planning the wedding!

I proposd to ym partner when he was miserable afer an operation. That soon cheered him up. Suprise him and make i romantic then he might realise why u need to be proposed. He might blush abit lol

lol ali same here i get a valentines card and pressie a day late coz he always forgets

a lot of girls dont get a proper proposal im afraid but try and have a casual chat about it if you think he gets nervous at more serious chats.

i didnt get a proposal either! we got drunk one night on holiday and said to him that i wanted to marry him and spend my life with him and then asked if he would marry me. he said if we were going to do it we would do it properly so he asked me, got down on bended knee and everything and then we chose my ring together.

i always wondered if he really wanted to marry me but he told me a couple of months ago that he was going to ask me on holiday but i got there first....oops! i wish i had waited for him to ask me but i loved him so much i didnt want to wait for him to ask as i thought i would be waiting years! lol xx

I got two proposals. When we got our security deposit back on the flat we were renting H2B said "why don't we put it towards a ring?" (Proposal #1). I told him I wanted to hear him say the words, to make it official. So, on holiday in Egypt we stood in the shadow of the Great Pyramid, and he leaned in so our sunhats made a little hideaway, and whispered "Will you marry me?" (Proposal #2). Not on one knee (sand was too hot), not big and flashy (although the pyramid was pretty big!), just nice. And it gave me what I wanted.
You have to let him know that a proper proposal is what you want. Or ask him yourself. Just get those four words (or variations on the theme) out there!

Well, technically, h2b and I got engaged two years into our relationship.
We were staying at his parent's house when they used to live in Devon (we had the place to ourselves as they were in the process of selling it and they lent it to us so we could take a break from university stress during the summer) and relaxing in the guest room. I was telling him that one of my friends had said the two of us were like an old married couple and he said "I think we are too. I'd like us to be married some day". I replied "me too" and that was that.
Two and a half years later, I finally get that proposal. Haha

(to be fair, we were waiting to graduate and leave a suitable amount of time after his brother's wedding so that his mum didn't have a total meltdown)

I kind of feel as though I have been robbed but we are still planning our wedding so guess I have started to accept that am not getting a proper proposal, we are in love and thats all that matters xx

Thats really nice though, I just want something nice like that, doesnt have to be like a movie seen xx
