Me and my partner were engaged but due to alot of stress and other complications he broke off the engagement over a year ago now.... Ive recently been informed by a mutual friend that as far as my partners concerned "marriage is still on the cards but he cant handle the wedding talk from me"... Lol I think I was previously a bit excited....
Now we have the dress, wedding rings, and stationary.

He had an engagement ring but I have been wearing it since he broke the engagement off as it still means something to me and he gave it back... I fell over the other day and his tungsten ring split in half upon collidig with the floor... I have ordered a replacement.... Pick it up Monday...

Thing is having been told its still on the cards last week I was planning on asking him on valentines day... I had already planned a 3course meal and already bought his valentines gift... But was wanting to incorporate a proposal poem... I found one that i have adjusted slightly but was wonderig if you ladies and gents could cone up with something a bit more.... Less..."what the heck"? The following is what I have...

Ive got the dress

(if it helps we have 2boys, lack of funding but neither of us want big, stationary, dress, wedding rings)

well my eldest has trousers, so just need trousers for youngest and shirts for both but even £land do shirts these days!
we have rings - partner designed them and we had the specially made
i have dress
partner needs trousers - he hates shirts (especially white) so he will prob wear one of his black ones that he never wears
we want a BBQ
my family has issues atm (not regarding us) but it means that most of them cant come anyway so we only want something small
dont want a big cake as our son is allergic to lots of things so dont want to have something he wont be able to eat so will only be 1 or 2 tiers but know where to get that cheap.
would rather do private ceremony with standard stuff to save money just us the boys and witnesses then have a diy ceremony after with everyone
i know what to do, but its just the poem i need sorting i guess. i dont wanna ask outright as i will just cry (im very sensitive regarding this stuff when it comes to us since he broke it off - alot of the stress that caused the call off was the same reason my family cant attend - safety issues)

Like i say what i want to do is
feed the boys, whilst they eat i prep potato skins, cook chicken wings (previously marinated in JD BBQ sauce), put boys to bed, set table with cutlery, floating candles, smelly strawberry candle, valentines gifts, engagement ring, menu card, and engagement poem, then he will get home from work just as garlic mushrooms, potato skins and chicken wings are dished up, so a combo for starters...

for mains..
sirloin steak topped with garlic mayo for me and JD BBQ sauce for him
Chips
fried mushrooms with garlic mayo and JD BBQ dipping sauces

Dessert:
warm cookie dough with vanilla ice cream

then a film
then bed for fun times lol

i want to mount the proposal poem and menu onto the colours we have for our wedding stationary that i have made.

is anyone able to give me a suggestion to personalise the poem a bit more?

not too sure about the last line.... i mean nothing will really change except both of our names (the kids are double barrelled and we decided we would be too... decided before settling on our eldests name)

i guess it makes sense to me.... as iv never had a complete family, iv always considered my family to be broken as all my siblings and i have different names.... so it makes sense to me but my OH doesnt really understand how i feel about it cos his family have always had the same names... if that makes sense... anyway not sure he would understand it... but its lovely thankyou

they used a different quote per guest at a wedding last year, the B&G knew nothing about it until they were shown around the tables just before the receiving line, worked a treat!

and his parents would never let us live another day if we kept them from it all....sucks.....dont get on with them as it is....lol

me too lol... i just sent it to one of my male friends and he likes it too lol... hes currently telling me to mount it on the stationary colours from before my OH broke it off and use a table name holder/photo holder to hold it on the table when we have our valentines meal.... i guess i'll be finding one of those then lol
