You know I didnt look twice at it on the website but in real life it is so beautiful and SO flattering, made my waist look teeny!
I tried an Alfred Algelo (I think that was the name?) but it was just really ordinary nothing special at all and gave me no shape and I tried one by a british designer (think it was Benjamin something) which had the most amazing pure silk waist band and skirt but the top section was horrible on, a bit of a copy of the Kate Middleton dress but horrid!
I think im just going to go to a few more shops that do a selection and see what jumps out at me, when I went to this one today they had 2 rooms, one was the lower priced ready to wear type dresses and the other the couture room with the Pronovias etc so I walked around both and honestly from the hundreds of gowns there were only 4 I even wanted to try and not a single one from the ready to wear range! Im going to be a nightmare!!x

Ooh i like both of those
They remind me of justin alexander type dresses so they may be worth a look
Paloma blanca and augusta jones do similar ones too and they are all about the same price range

Durban isnt much less to be honest but to me it looks worth that sort of money, this other one had no embelishment on or anything, the fabric on the skirt was beautiful but still no nicer than any of the Pronovias!x

I know, but if I'm blessed with a long life I don't wanna be heavily in debt, especially not just for one day, as special as it is. Just added up total cost of dress I'm likely to get with all the other associated bits for the entire outfit, actually, the budget has increased £500!!!!! I'm outta control!

I totally agree with you, im very lucky that my lovely parents are paying for basically everything, they are actually more out of control than me haha! My dad keeps adding more people to the guest list and telling me to add extra things on, not sure he will be quite so excited when the invoices start coming in!!x

There are some beautiful dresses out there. All the ones I see pix of I'm attracted to tend to be busy fussy ones with detail but all the ones that actually suit me are rather plain :S

I agree ladies. There are particular dreses that just suit you. My sister and I both thought I'd go for a dress wieth lotsa bling and detail but then every dress that I liked and actually suited me were plain with just a little bit of ruching and tiny bit of discreet sparkle.

So many people go for something opposite to what they thought they'd get. My sister wanted a plain fishtail dress with a fan detail at the neckline, she ended up with an A-line dress covered in lace and bling with a chiffon halterneck strap! x

    Hi Ladies

I know this thread is 5 months old, but as a newbie and having just tried on some Pronovias dresses, I was wondering how you all got on with yours? I tried on the Dagen and really loved it (although i'm kinda not sure on the back) The price is £1109(which I know it an amazing dress for this designer) but as i'm a size 16 and my hips are big (size 18) they have added another £200 making it £1309.... Its alot of money and over what I wanted to pay. I know of anohter website who are based in America who can make this dress for £880 (they are an authroised seller) but still scared!

ANy help or advice on your experices with the Bond Street store would be appreciated as they seemed lovely... a bit pushy, but I understand they work in sales so this is their job!

    Thank you

I've ended up with Dauco by Pronovias, had a nightmare as the first shop I ordered from went bust but have now ordered again from a lovely little shop in Altrincham where are you based?
I didn't end up going to the Bond St store as I found the sample up north but have heard horror stories from lots of people about the bond street store being horrible!x

    Hi HollyB42

Do you mind me asking how much your dress cost?

Well, I read terriable reviews about the Bond Street store but really wanted to go and try the dresses on as I love them so much (plus its only 25 mins on the tube for me, im in North West London) and my experience wasnt bad at all. My friend couldnt come last minute so I made the decision to go by myself, they were all polite and I really wanted to try on the Dominic and Dauco but they didnt have them in stock ;O( BOOOOOO

So the best one that day was Dagen (my backside looks HUGE so have now gone off it!) but they really are sales people, they are even calling me tomorrow to see if i am going to put down on a desposit on a dress i like NOT love! Nice dress but its alot of money to spend on a dress if i'm not sure on it.

Really starting to worry and stress because of the time scale to get the dress in and fitted for my wedding in June. Just cant seem to find anything that suiting me, i'm curvy and I have big boobs so its just a complete nightmare!

I have another appoitment in Beaconsfield so wish me luck~~Praying I see something!

The list price of Dauco is £2010 but I have managed to get it from a lovely shop for £1600, however I lost £1000 when the last shop went bust so really it's costing me £2600 ha!!

If you really liked other styles have you been on the Pronovias site and called all the stockists locally to see if they have samples in? I had to call lots to find a sample of Dauco!
You should also ask some independant stores about time scales for ordering I am losing weight so not getting measured until late Jan but some shops tried to scare me into doing it earlier!!x

Oh that's awful, what a horrid thing to have to go through! Glad you got your dress in the end :)

I'm starting to look at Maggie Sottero dresses now, try and go for something with less volume. I'm losing weight too (2.5 stone so far! woohoo) so I really wanted to get it in January but these sales people are making me so worried that I need to get it yesterday!

Thanks for sharing Holly you have made me feel better!
