Opinions on bridesmaids and ushers processing up and down the aisle? I know it's an American thing but I'm quite taken by it as we have an equal number on each so would look quite tidy rather than one-by-one up the aisle taking for ever? Thoughts please! Thanks x

Ive always liked that too. Like you've said, it looks much more tidier. If that's what you want then go for it! x

I love it when their paired up walking down the aisle, I would have loved to have done this, unfortunately we don't have the same ratio of groomsmen to bridesmaids.

I think if your ushers are going to process it would probably be better to go in pairs, otherwise it would take a long time. Normally ushers don't process at all, but that's no reason why they shouldn't. If your bridesmaids are in heels they might appreciate an arm to hold on to, I know last time I was a bridesmaid I was terrified of falling off, and very relieved when my brother was with me on the way out. My bridesmaids went down largely in single file, apart from two girls in heels who needed to avoid the grating in the middle of the aisle, and therefore went as a pair on either side. However that was largely as I had a long piece of music to fill up.

Our ushers didn't process as they were already there, so we felt it was a bit weird for them to go out and come back in again; our bridesmaids processed one by one (we had three) with my MOH and junior bridesmaid processing together. I quite liked it as it meant they all got a moment in the spotlight, plus hopefully the photographer will have got photos of each of them.

Processing out, they paired up with the ushers; we had them seated so they could just pair off naturally. That also worked really well.

I'd say it's really up to you. As I said, the main reason we didn't have the ushers enter with the bridesmaids is because they were already there, whereas no-one had seen the bridesmaids up until that point. But if you'd prefer it, go for it!

Our ushers won't be going down the aisle I only have one BM and she will be walking down the aisle with our son (page boy) if we had equal BM to ushers I'd have them go down the aisle as pairs rather than on their own.

We don't have any ushers so that solves that problem for us :P my brother is technically a bridesmam as he is walking me down the aisle :)

I loved this idea too so instead of having loads of bridesmaids im just having my son and daughter (page boy and bridesmaid) walk together down the aisle

Thanks ladies - we keep umming and ahhing as my OH thinks the aisle will be too small to accommodate them going up but wants them to process out together so I personally don't see why we can't get them to process in as well? When they walk in, it will be nice, neat and equal, especially as when they get to the altar, there are pews either side that they can fan out into! I like symmetry ;) x

We are not having ushers but h2b and his 2 best men will be walking down the aisle when everyone is seated. I have 4 adult bridesmaids and a little flower girl and would like 2 bridesmaids and flower girl to walk in together first followed by the other 2 bridesmaids.. That way no one has to go on their own and they have someone for 'back up' to make them feel more comfortable :) my bridesmaids are friends as well and won't know many of the people there so wouldn't want them to feel petrified lol x
