Hi Everyone, I booked my wedding in Feb 2009 for August 2010. We paid the deposit etc, and signed contracts. I have not had that much to do with the venue yet as it's still a while away, however I looked at their website yesturday and their wedding prices have gone up heaps. The room hire has gone up £175 and the wedding breakfast at least £7 a head. I dont dare phone the hotel to see if we are paying last years prices or if we have to pay this year. I went back through all our contracts and I cant find anything about holding the price. Any thoughts, or ideas for argument if they do charge us the new prices?

No but the contracts only very small mostly says about the cancellation fees, so much before the wedding

Tell them that you signed the contract and that when you signed that contract there was no mention of the prices changing x

i agree with Mrscutts2be if u have signed the contract then you should pay the prices quoted at that time... :)
I have just rea-read it and it says 'A room hire charge is levied in accordance with the appropriate current tariff listed in your wedding brochure'. I think that means we will be ok, as we have the old prices. Deffinatly no mention of wedding breakfast prices

I have had the same but tell them it was agreed with last year prices also what i cant get out of and you may have the same problem is the VAT went back up in Jan so the balance has gone up and up

i'd call them asap to check. if for some unfair reason they do raise the price better you know now rather than later!

I would think if you signed up for the old prices they will have too honour that but your better to phone and ask so your not worrying about it x

I know that when I booked my Venue which was in 2008 they gave me 2009 price list because that was all they had and even although I had paid my deposit etc they told me that the price was subject to change and regardless of when I booked it I have to pay the prices for the year i'm getting married. Your venue could be totally different so just give them a call and find out it's better knowing what you have to deal with than stressing about it cause it could work out perfectly well in the end.xxx

I am enquiring now and some venues are telling me if I book this year, I will get this year's prices, so best to call when you can. I wouldn't say "your prices have gone up, so do we pay that?"; just say "I am ringing to confirm the remaining balance, which you quoted when we booked in Feb 2009". :o)

from the contracts iv signed last year ready for this year,i was told that any price increases wouldnt apply to me because we had booked payed deposit and signed contract before the price increase came in (if ant of tht makes sense)for example,our dj we booked him last year with a £50 deposit and pay £250 on the night,signed the contract done deal,if we had waited until the new financial year his prices were going up by £50,but because we did it before then it didnt apply to us

I've been over my contracts and they all state that price to be paid is price quoted at the time of deposit. However, having worked in the industry I know that hotels will be cheeky rascals and charge you the hotel tarriff for the year of the wedding BUT it should say in your contract whether or not your quote is variable (ooh get me talking hotel twaddle lol) In English, sorry, it should tell you on your contract whether your remaining balance is subject to increase.
But I'd ring them and double check xxx
