I have noticed, whilst looking at the million wedding venues that I can't make a decision on, that 95% of the venues increase there prices year by year. I understand this, they have to cover the costs of increased supplier prices, wage increases, food increases etc. however most of the venues I have looked at increase there prices by £500-£1000 every year!!! Is this normal amount to increase prices? It seems a very high rise so I thought I would ask to see what price increases are like else where.

I noticed this with most of the venues I looked at, the increase in the majority was £500+ so I think it is normal for most places.

I don't think ours actually increased their 'exclusive use' cost, but the cost of the wedding breakfast, drinks, evening buffet etc. are all subject to a 5% annual increase. Although they included these revised prices within our quote and only charged us an extra 5%, instead of 10% (we booked 2 years in advance). x

yes most of them do go up by like 5% or more per year I think I read somewhere.. but if you booked it this year for say 2 or 3 years time they most likely will honour this years prices some offer it to you or if they don't, ask them if they will :)

I think I might have to start asking if they will honor 2016 prices if I book now for 2017 prices, it's silly but when you only have a smallish budget having to pay an extra £1000 for nothing seems ridiculous. I'm glad to hear price increases are the same elsewhere tho I did wonder if it was due to the backwards logic you only find at our end of the country!!! You do have to ask tho how much longer venues can increase the price by some much before the make them selves too expensive.

I agree I think a lot of venues have an annual increase. Our venue agreed to honor the 2013 prices for a 2015 wedding as that was when we booked.

Most venues will increase prices annually to keep up with inflation.

Definitely speak to venues about getting current prices if you are booking far in advance. Our venue stated 2015 prices were going up, but then they didn't. So it can go both ways!

I'm no poking for 2017 and are looking at paying the 2016 prices. Our favourite is giving us 2015 prices so worth being cheeky and asking if they will fix the price for you. The church couldn't though

My venue was the same £500 increase at the end of Feb but as long as we booked before the end of Feb we got it at the cheaper price. Seems to be the norm x

Ours did with the meal but the cost of the room stayed the same. I think the meal went up about £1 per head. We were told when we looked and given the menu choice that that was prices at that time and to expect a different one if booked after the year was up.

I do understand that prices must increase it just seems to be quite an increase year by year, the difference in price over 2 years can range from £1000-£2000!! For anyone saving for a wedding that's a lot of extra to save with nothing extra to show for it!! I need to get better at trying to "haggle" tho, it's something I've never been comfortable with but especially with the price increases I may be throwing away money for the sake of not asking!

Our venue price increased by £300 as we booked in 2013 and are getting married later this year. I dont think theres a lot you can do to avoid it, some venues will promise to stick to a particular price but make sure you get this in writing and read any contract carefully, as sometimes they can put things in there to get around this and charge you more.
CommentAuthorIrishbride2be
yes my venue do the same. we booked ours for within that year so we got the price we were looking at but i was shocked that it was an extra £1500 to get married in 2016 xx
