We still havent came to a desicion about where exactly we are having our reception

Our cheapest option is finding some where and having my uncle do the catering.

We still dont have a date as dont have a proper quote as to how much catering is going to be and one of the halls we are looking at goes up in price in october!

Its an extra £50 on deposit and another £200 on top of price. This may not be much to some but it is to us!

My mum has said we will work something out but I do not want to book the venue for a 3/4 years time to find out we could have had it sooner but not able to change a date.

Just wanted to write it down as H2B is constantly changing his mind about venue when hes told about another place that could be good and my mum as much as she said we will sort something out thats all she says!
No actually talking about how we will sort it or what we will do just well sort it out!

our venue has gone up by more than £200 and I think we are ok as we have a contract that spec states our price but the food prices say from so the fact they have gone up we cant argue. We have a meeting on the 10th August so are going to go to town as they have made loads of changes and the contract doesnt always say how they will affect us. This is one thing to watch for when booking early as we were told one thing and are now getting different information. Get them to write down as much as you can in a formal contract.

Some of the venues I looked at allowed you to change your date once you had booked as long as the date was still free. This was mainly around the recession and people not being financially able to hsave their wedding but im sure they would be more than happy to bring it forward too! But like the others say, get everything in writing :)

There are so many people out there who will tell you
    what you can't do.
What you have to do is turn around and say, "watch me"!!

id calm myself down by booking a proper meeting with the venue again and having a nice long list of questions to ask. You could alternatively email the questions so then you have written confirmation of what they are offering?

Yeh, Think next couple of days will be talk talk talk about venues with H2B and mum to see about getting this venue as it is the closest to the church and we will only need to worry about transport for people going home!!

Yes - sadly our venue is going up in price aswell - but we have booked in 2011 and not getting married till 2012 but still have to pay extra - in which is costing us another 1K.
Wasnt happy about it but cant do much :(

Hmmm, May wait then and just pay the extra when booking if it may turn out we have to pay more anyway!!

As well you have to be 25 to book anyway and the person who books has to do all the decision making bits picking up keys getting everything organised with decorations out before handing back licensing for bar etc.

Dont trust H2B with all that he'll forget or not know what to do!!!
