    Hi!

We have booked a date for our wedding on Saturday 19th July 2014, given that my H2B is a teacher it's the beginning of the school hols.
His boss has offered that he can finish work 2 weeks earlier on the 4th, (and make up the time off during the summer with other school related stuff), have the wedding on the 5th then go on honeymoon before the school hols and save some money. At the end of term it's very busy & stressful, and would hate for him to have the stress of finishing work on a Friday and get married the next day (aside from leaving the prep to me!) I don't think it would be fair on him.

I plan on taking the Thursday & Friday before the saturday off work (non-teacher, more flexible), but wondered how much time other grooms have taken off/plan to take off in the run up for preparation?

I am going to suggest to him we marry on the 12th instead, and he part-accept his bosses offer and have at least 2 days clear between work and wedding - I am looking for feedback/approval(!) before I put the idea to him.

    Thanks in advance xx

Im not sure how much needs doing beforehand but could be minimal if your organised in advanced.... for the groom it would be finallising details with venue with you, picking up suits, sorting out groomsmen, wedding reharsals, etc whereas for the bride it would be beauty things too so i think 2 weeks is alot of time off if your organised enough beforehand xxx

I think my OH will be working until 5pm the night before! We're getting married on 10th May 2014, it is a busy week for me at work too so I'll be lucky to get the day off beforehand, I do finish at 1pm on a Friday though so hopefully I'll be able to be super organised and just have very very very last minute things to do

4th April 2014 - I get married to my soul mate

I took the day before my wedding off - it looked like a had tonnes to do - pick dad up, take things to the venue, get back home in time for hubby to drop me for my nails doing, get taxi to parents, meet grandad and get him checked in at the hotel, back to mums for when brother arrived, go for family meal, then go back to the hotel. When I was actually doing it, it wasnt half as much as I thought!

Hubby worked until 12 day before the wedding, dropped me off at nail place at 3 then went home then met his parents and went for a meal.

We have everything done about a month before so made it much easier.

Hubby finished work on the Friday and we flew out on the Monday morning. For the London blessing, he didn't take any time off. He finished at 5pm then went and picked his family up on his way home and they all arrived back and then we had dinner together! They all went at about 9pm, but there wasn't really anything for us to have to do!

If organised well in advance you may find that there is not much to do. I had a full week apart from the Wednesday at uni the week running up to the wedding. I picked my dress up on the Wednesday and my mum picked the cakes up on the Friday. BIL picked the suits up Thursday and I got them from his house. On the Friday weather was awful, we were struggling to get a taxi to the boat to get home. I just wanted home to get nails done. Hubby had finished early but only got his hair cut. All that needed doing that evening was taking a few things over to the venue as hubby stayed there so he done that, and they sorted all of that out. As I had everything in hand I did not feel stressed at all even with having a busy week. I nearly took the Friday off in, but glad as Would have been sitting around with not a lot to do.

I have put in for annual leave where i work which has been accepted so that i have the friday before the saturday off work but working the thursday evening. I know if i didnt work my mind would be stressing on little things.
However im not sure what h2b has put in for at his work.

Like others have said, if organsied properly & in advance im sure minimal time it could be done.

Im finishing work two days before we get married and h2b will probably just have the day before off maybe? not sure he is self employed so can do what he likes really, knowing him he wont decide until a week or two before. but im all booked off at work now from the 9th may - 29th may lol thats nearly 3 weeks!!! we go on our honeymoon on 13th, and come home on the 27th. Is it normal to have 3 weeks of to get married? i would love to have a whole month off haha! x
