What's your opinion on having a pre loves dress?? We are getting married on a very tight budget and my friend has offered me her wedding dress for free. It's a gorgeous dress and totally something I would pick myself. But do you think it would be weird or frowned upon to wear it???

I think it's gorgeous! The main thing though, is what do you think?

If you'd be happy to wear that dress than go for it xx

It looks lovely, but what matters most is how you feel about it, if you like/love it then that is the important factor.

GO for it! the more you can save the better and its a lovely dress, have you tried it on? maybe you need to then you can make up your mind, as from experience looking at a dress and wearing it is 2 completely different things, i tried on dresses I liked but hated on me, this could be the one for you so what have you got to loose and its a big saving on the budget if you love it on xx

Thank you everyone. I will need to loose a stone or 2 to get in it. But now I have the motivation to do it! I love it. I have always loved the thought of giving a dress another special day as so many are worn once then put in a box! X

Its a beautiful dress but you need to try it on to see how it feels.
I wouldn't worry about it being preloved. Makes it more special between the 2 of you x

Best of luck with the weight loss so you can then try it on xx

It's a lovely dress and if you're on a tight budget, then go for it. If you're not 100 % sure, check out the bay, they also have lots of preloved ones on there too. I typed mine into the search on the bay and found 2 peoples selling it - wanted to look at the photos and didn't have any taken of me in it, so was nice to see the dress on real brides. I added one to my watch list and it sold for £155 this morning.

My dress is from a preloved shop and it is perfect apart from one or two loose beads that can be easily fixed during alterations. If you love the dress then go for it. Plus you could use different accessories so it doesn't look exactly the same as when your friend wore it if you are worried about people recognising it. It is a lovely dress and in the photo you show she isn't wearing a veil but you might want to try it with one. X

Yeah I would say try it on and if it feels right then go for it- there a quite a lot of discounted dress shops and these are either sample or pre loved dresses- after a dry clean then they are as good as new- it's even more nice that it was your friends dress too- Xxx

If you like it then go for it. My dress is a sample sale which initially I was a bit disheartened by because I'll never have that phone call to say "your wedding dress has arrived" but the dress is stunning, I've not seen any others like it and even when I typed the dress code into g00gle barely any images came up.

The dress is still immaculate you can't tell it's been tried on by others so soon got over that :) main thing is you love the dress

Not at all, it's a lovely day. My mum borrowed my aunts wedding dress, in those days most couples had very tight budgets.

Their wedding car was just a regular car provided by a family friend who also drove them, dress borrowed, bridesmaid only one just wore her own dress, a friend took photographs, everything was low key. They had what was considered a lavish reception at the time after the church ceremony but it was in a local restaurant (not a fancy one).

Most of their friends who got married around the same time, give or take a few years had their reception at the parents house with some sandwiches.

Don't feel you need to spend a fortune to have a special day, if friends and family offer dresses or to help with something which will help save money then go for it. It's a very pretty dress too so if you're comfortable in it and you feel it suits you you're onto a winner.

It's absolutely fine to have a preloaded dress.

If you are concerned, you could always speak to a seamstress about making the dress slightly different, but tbh, I don't think you need to. x

I've not even thought about my something borrowed!

Mum probably doesn't have her veil or anything otherwise I'd have probably done that!

The main thing is that you like the dress - if you like the dress who cares what anyone else thinks :) it's your day not theirs
