Well our Power Plate arrived on Friday night, and I was heading straight up to see my parents after work so was gutted I didn't get to try it. Turns out H2B has some issues setting it up - it's so powerful it kept shorting our power supply to the house! Luckily by the time I'd got home on Saturday he'd sussed it - we just have an extension into the stable and had to have it in the lounge, which is fine.

So I went on it 3 times yesterday for 10 mins at a time and it's great. I feel a little sore today - like I've been for a really long swim or something. And it's great first thing in the morning as it wakes you up and makes you feel like you've done an hour of stretching and yoga! So I'm aiming for 4 sessions a day, which are easy to do because you don't break a sweat or anything - pop on it in work clothes as soon as I get home etc. I'm also going to stick to the running - 3 times a week.

Will let you know how I get on...

Anyone else any experience of using them?

yeah but not for a while, we have them at my gym and its hard work but i hardly ever felt sore cos of the relaxing one's. might start on em again. aiming to lose another 7 pound's so i can fit into size 8 properly instead of looking like a sausage in em lol. h2b doesnt want me to lose anymore but they just dont understand. how much did you pay for it if you dont mind me asking? have you got an excerise thingy with it which shows you what to do on it?

We are just hiring it, but it's a brand new one so we got lucky! It's £11 a week to hire for a minimum of 6 weeks, and then when we're done they will collect or deduct our payments and let us buy it. I think if it works I'll want to buy it! The cats will have to go...

You do various poses. You can just stand, do lunges, press ups, and it just vibrates. 10 mins is supposed to be like 1 hour in the gym. I am skeptical, but willing to give it a go...

There's one where you lay on your front, hips and belly on the plate, and then support your chest with arms on the floor, and bend your knees so your feet rest on your bum. Hilarious!

its a plate thingy you stand on which vibrates. when you do things like squats, its intensifies them so you dont have to do as much but its hard. they say it should be used in addition to normal exercise not instead of which i have found to be true. you feel like a right plank at first but soon get used to it!

Just a little advice for ladies using or wanting to use a power plate really, hope none of you take it the wrong way...

Many people misunderstand the purpose of the Power Plate and do it instead of regular Aerobic exercise but it still really needs to be done alongside it, especially for weight loss.

4 times a day really is a lot of time to be using it - It's recommended that it's used for 10-30 minutes each time not to use it everyday (leaving 48 hours between each workout)- It's just like any other muscular workout, you need to rest otherwise you'll end up doing more damage to your muscles than good (during muscular workout the muscles are damaged and then repair themselves bigger and stronger, muscles need to be repaired before going through the process again). High Protein diets help this process.

^^ Having said that you can still use the lower massage settings a little more often.

I use the one at my work and it has made a small difference, although not that noticeable and really doesn't feel like I've had that much of a workout afterwards but then this could all be put down to the fact my muscular training is pretty intense anyway. Do feel like a right plank doing some of the poses though.
