My mum has decided she wants a 'proper' red wedding post box after seeing one at a friend's wedding. I'm cool with that, but having looked briefly the proper cast iron ones cost £200 to buy, or £60 to hire; and I refuse to pay that (slash, let my mum pay that); there are some things I draw the line at!
I found a cheaper one on the bay, but it's still £45, and t's just corrugated card covered in vinyl; and I'm thinking 'Really? £45 for that?!'
Basically, does anyone know where I can either find a cheaper ready-made one, or point me in the direction of a cheap white one that's a similar shape, that I can decorate myself?
Thanks guys!

HI, i had the same problem, saw a gorgeous white wooden one online thats square but designed to look like the red ones and it was £100!! and again about £50/£60 to hire.
I luckily work for a construction company and one of the guys is making it for me..... could you maybe ask someone you know who's crafty to make you one?
I really want the wooden one so we can keep it, may sound odd to some people but think it will make a lovely feature in our hallway :) xx

I love some of the post boxes they look fab though completely unaffordable! Luckily my work colleague is in a craze of making things out of pallets from work at the moment and has offered to make us a post box out of some!!

My dad's pretty handy, and my OH is a graphic designer so can get vinyl and do the sign and lettering.... Hmm, I shall think about this.
Spent ages looking earlier to no avail; really wouldn't want to spend more than maybe £20.
Any: I don't think it's weird to want to keep it, I do too which is why I want to make/buy one rather than hire on; I think they look cool, esp the personalised ones!

I got mine from the home of bargains. 1.99, I think it was. It's just a box, so you need to decorate it yourself, but it gives you some ideas on the packaging.
Can i ask something? Your mum wants this? What do YOU want?

Megs: my parents are paying a Lot of money for the wedding, and they'll be paying for it. I love them, but I'll feel awful if they spent a stupid amount on one; I just think it's a lot of money so trying to find one as cheap as possible because it all adds up!

That's fine, but you didn't say that they wouldbe paying for it. I fully understand, as my mum has offered to pay for my dress, but i can't let her spend that much as she has helped me out over the years. Good luck in your search x

There's loads of white replica post boxes for hire on bay of e. Most priced at £35. Look just as good. Unfortunately wont find much cheaper unless you make your own.
