Ugh I’d read about post wedding blues but wow they really are bloody horrible aren’t they! I always thought I’d cry at the wedding and then that’d be it job done but nope – I actually didn’t cry much at the wedding, it’s just been ever since! We got married in Lindos in Rhodes, Greece – we were there two weeks and got married on our 5th day there. It was an amazing day, couldn’t stop smiling all day, then the next day me and hubby were in our room and he played our first dance song and that was it I was a sobbing mess! Welling up now just thinking about it!

Anyway so yeah we got back early hours of Sunday. I cried when we left, cried when we got home, cried a bit more later that day, cried for most of yesterday, you get the idea. First day back at work today and, as lovely as it is talking about the wedding non stop, every time someone comes over and asks me how it all went I have to fight the urge to burst into tears!

Just feel so deflated that it’s all over. Trying to cheer myself up with the thought that we have our UK reception next month but I’m just so sad we’re not still in Lindos! It was such a beautiful place, we all had an amazing time, our children loved it, and it was just so sad to leave. I am trying to persuade hubby into booking to go back next year for our anniversary, that would go a long way to cheering me up!

How do you drag yourself out of feeling like this?! I’m quite disappointed, I’m supposed to be still in happy newlywed mode lol – someone give me a slap please! xx

It's perfectly understandable, and certainly the bit that I'm dreading. For a long time everything has been about working towards the best day of your life, and suddenly it's done and over, and you don't really know what to do with yourself, or how to deal with not having that to look forward to anymore. You need to find something that you will get excited about. Maybe a date night with your husband will help, it might remind you of what the time in Greece was all about.

Is there much to organise for the UK Reception? What about photographs? Did you have a package from a photographer with an album? If so you'll need to sit down and choose the photos to go in the album, which should be a nice job.

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

Awe sweetie, it just sounds like you are so overwhelmed with joy that it's happened that now you're coming down off the high your happy hormones gave you now it's done. But try and think of it this way (I am so not talking from experience right now btw) you have begun you're journey into being a Mrs, think about how much fun you're going to have with that alone! I would definitely try and book it away for your anniversary so you can revisit where it all happened :) Maybe try getting some friends around soon to start sharing pictures of the day. Yes you will cry like the heavens have opened but at least you'll share it with the right people.

hi Rach! I recognise you from facebook, congratulations your wedding pictures are gorgeous!

I did originally decide on cyprus to get married but im torn again between here and abroad (only really because Ohs parents wouldnt be able to come and cyprus holidays are coming in quite expensive) How easy did you find it to book and arrange your wedding in Greece? Theres a group on FB for cyprus brides, is there one for brides marrying in Greece?

    Sarah x

Hi Sarah, I found it really easy as our planner was so helpful and thorough, they were really good at replying to emails (all my millions of questions lol) and were just generally great. They talked us through it all step by step, particularly the more complicated bits like sorting the legal paperwork.

I'm sure there must be one on there for brides marrying in Greece if you have a search, I just used the wedding planner's group (not sure if I'm allowed to say the name on here but I've added you to it anyway, it's just awaiting approval), that was great for any quick questions or wanting opinions as there's lots of past and future brides on there who are all using that company x

Thanks for the other replies, I think my hubby thinks I've gone mental lol! There's a few bits to sort for the UK reception but I'm kind of on top of that at the moment. We've had our album and all our professional photos back too, I keep looking through them all every day lol. Need to try and shake myself out of this, I'm hoping it really is normal and others feel the same - just slightly worried that it's the stress/anxiety I had before the wedding making a reappearance now that I don't have the wedding to distract me! Really hope not though as I was a bit of a state :-/ just feel really deflated that it's all over and sooo jealous of people that still have theirs to come! :-( xx

I've got a long way to go but I'm worrying about what comes next! I've already had it cross my mind that I'm going to be so disppointed when it's all over and I have nothing else to do! X

I found the best way to not get post wedding blues is to have more things planned to look forward to and also keep yourself busy.

Last year I had no chance to really get them because after the wedding day and honeymoon (I had a whole month off work for it) we were just so busy with sorting things out with our new house, still getting work done to it, then getting the official wedding photo album sorted which took us about 4 months. Then I got promoted at work and hubby had also started a new posting in a different unit at work. With all the other things like birthdays etc I was just too preoccupied to feel the post wedding blues full on.

I'd get the occasional wish to do it again but it wasn't a really intense feeling.

Stay busy and you'll be fine. Set yourself a new project.
