As long as you dowel it properly and put each cake on a separate board you should be fine. Just beware if its sponge you need to do it as close to the wedding as possible

Ok from sita_meena's comment it sounds hard now aha!
Well my mom bakes cakes etc but not sure if she'd be able to make that, and she also lives in Cheshire,(i live in the west midlands) so might be hard getting it down here.
My H2B's aunt is a GREAT baker, she made her 1yo a Mr Men cake it was a house like a proper house with little mr men outside it all different colors, it was amazing! ... if i new how to put pictures on comments i'd put it up!

It looks great...but as the strawberries in choc will need to be freshly done, you are putting a lot of pressure on yourself the night before or the morning of the wedding... I'm having an aunty make my cake for me... its a fruit cake and has been made for 6 months already! She's maturing it by adding booze every 3 weeks! It's going to be lush... and save me a fortune... sometimes a plainer cake will be of better quality, keep longer and be less complicated and sterssful!

Yeah that might be a bit risky for your mum to make it and get it to you.
But you could always ask your aunt to be!! Just give her loads of compliments haha!

I don't know whether you have to be a power user to add pictures. Still not 100% clued up on this site. X

Hahaha... my Aunty has been great, her husband, my uncle is a mason, so we're having the recption at his masonic lodge... so we got not only the venue for free, but we got masons members bar rates too! And they've done the cake too as mentioned so they've been very kind and helpful!

I can understand not liking fruitcake... i think its a bit of a marmite thing!

The only problem is that it needs to be made as close to the day as possible so it's added stress. Have you asked any bakery's for quotes on making a cake like that? It might be cheaper than you thought

Ashleigh... find out how much it is to be made professionally and weigh up the cost of buying the ingredients plus the time you'd have to put into it and the cost to rectify it if it went wrong close to the day and you had to find an alternative... if its significantly cheaper, I say give it a bash, if not, find someone else who'll do it for you to save the hassle/stress xx

I think ValentinaK is right, might cost you more in ingredients, time and stress! But if you are up for the challenge then I would suggest watching lots of Utube videos and a practice run in advance :) xx

I think you could make it :) Maybe just watch some youtube clips of how to stack tiered cakes.
If you didn't want to make the cakes you could always buy or hire a 6-8 tier cupcake stand, have one small cake on top (to cut into) and then just have chocolate covered strawberries on all other levels :)

You could make it, but it would need to be made as close to the day as possible and in between each layer you'd need to put dowels (like plastic rods) to hold the above tier so they don't sink into the tier underneath. To do that, each tier would need to be on a separate board to tier them, you can't just lay tiers on top of each other with no support xxx
