I have been racking my brain for hours trying to write a poem to ask our guests for money but I seriously SUCK!! It looks a lot easier than it is! I have seen a million poems online and on this forum which I love, but I'm trying to edit it to suit our situation. Most of the poems explain that the couple already have a house full of everything they need, but this is the opposite to us, we rent a studio apartment in Barcelona and don't own anything!!!
We are asking our guests for money instead of gifts because we will be coming back to Spain to stay after the wedding so won't be able to transport everything. The same goes for vouchers, we have different shops over here.
So I'm trying to write a poem which explains that although we would love household gifts, it's just not possible because of where we live. I want it to be light and funny too!
I didn't want to resort to asking someone else to do this, but I am really tearing my hair out trying to make things rhyme! This is definitely not my strong point!! :)
If anyone fancies giving it a wee go, I would be forever grateful!
Thanks,
Shannon

I've had a go Shannon, don't know if it's any good for you though!
We'd love for you to join us On our very special day To eat, drink and be merry And then dance the night away.
We do not have a gift list And the reason we'll explain Is the problem of transporting gifts By air or sea to Spain.
We just don't have the space To take presents back with us And if vouchers were your next thought The issue we have is thus
We do not have a Debenhams John Lewis or M&S Unfortunately we cannot spend them So it's time to reassess
Our only option is to ask for cash Which does seem rather lame But then we could go shopping And give you all the blame
We'd buy nice things for our home To furnish every room And we'd remember our lovely guests Who have helped the bride and groom.

Lynne, I absolutely love that!!! You are my hero! I love every word. Thanks so so much! :)
Well done Lynne! When I was looking for our poem I saw the same 10 or so on nearly every site, so I cut bits out and added bits from another to make our own x
