Help! We're gone over our guest list several times to try to "cancel people" - we've got the ceremony/reception sorted, but the evening do is proving a headache!!! We've had to cancel some of our guests plus ones to keep the numbers down!! Do you think this is ok when it's just for the evening invitees??? I feel quite bad about it, but we're still up to 200 guests in total and we can't go above that!!!!!

Your wedding your way hun - if you don't put them on the invitation, they're not invited - simples! And people either will respect that or not come, so either way it shouldn't be an issue :)

I have had to cancel some plus ones and to be honest I know I won't please everyone so I don't care. The plus ones are people I've never met before like boyfriends of friends etc. I say if you have to do it then do it, i know it may sound harsh but you have to factor in the cost of things. xxx

no i think we're gonna cater for 1/2 - 3/4 of them - we've got a choc fountain as well, and i know from my friend's wedding last year there was just way too much food!!!

thanx ladies, I feel better about cancelling the plus 1's now!! They'll all know other people there anyway and hopefully their other-halves will understand!!!!

we sent out our day invites the other day and there are a few people on there which dont have plus ones, this is because we know they will know some people there, it helps to keep the numbers down. The evening invites some will have plus ones and others wont, depends on if we know them, we dont want a load of people that we are paying for and dont know at our wedding.

that's kinda how we felt!! our venue's big but not huge, so couldn't hold the original guest list of 346!!! but when we looked at the plus ones we didn't know most of them anyways!!!!

I have a friend who moaned when another friend excluded plus ones at her wedding but it made me smile when she ended up doing exactly the same thing!!! I think it is completely acceptable when people know each other and if they dont feel comfortable then they dont have to come!

We cancelled many of our plus ones. And if they're single they're def coming on their own. They'll know the rest of the family!

That was how we felt that if they didnt want to come alone then they just wont come, they cant say they havent been invited. I have some family members im not inviting, my cousin has 5 kids all of which i havent seen, but they all think they are getting an invite, when the invites went out just with my cousins names on and not the kids, one of the kids got in touch with me, saying its been such a long time since she has seen us etc etc - she is 20 i saw her when she was 5. She is trying to wange an invite which annoys me, they only live about 60 miles away. Anyway the invite is not changing its still only for my cousins and not their kids, if they dont like it they wont come either.

yes I have family who wont go anywhere unless 'their girls' are invited too...fair enough but that is their choice...you cant be emotionally blackmailed into inviting people

yes this is how im currently feeling, however i can not justify spending another £400 in feeding 2nd cousins i have never met, if they really wanted to have met me they would have got intouch before now....

absolutely! We had an enagagement tea at the weekend and I invited all the cousins as they are not coming to the wedding! I invited 2 second cousins as their dad has had a stroke and they just brought their kids uninvited which took it to 3rd cousins!!! I did get a comment from another cousin about the kids but I just told her straight they were not invited. It amazes me how people just think they can do what they want!

Remember not everyone will be able to come- probably about 10-20% or even more for evening guests.

we have had loads of people argue over guest list and plus ones and if you give in a little bit then they try and add more. As a result we said anyone that we dont know isnt invited.... why should we have a group of ppl on our day that we dont know.... it should be family and friends only. And if we havnt seen you in a year then your off the list as well..... really helped cut the budget for food down.

cant wait to be Mrs Evans less than 3 weeks woooo
