I know my wedding is so far ahead I should not worry about table plan yet, but because of my depression I can't stop worrying about a problem. SIL2B told me yesterday that her mum (MOG)'s boyfriend, will not accept to be seated at a different table than MOG, I can't stand the guy to begin with, he's never been nice to me, and at the last family do shouted at me in front of everybody because I was playing on the wii saying I should leave the kids to it (i.e implying his daughter). My other reason for not wanting him at top table is because I want the top table to be traditional, with strictly MOB, MOG, FOG, FOB (if he comes), Best Man and Bridesmaid ONLY. If MOG's boyfriend come, it would be an odd number, and I would need to add FOG's new wife as well, and then there would be too many people. So what do I do? Talk to MOG, who last week after hearing rumors, asked H2B to reconsider marrying me, explaining already that her boyfriend can't be at same table than her, or suck it up, or have a table literally just H2B, parents and I? It worries me already and next time I see them I will crack up. Need your advice and suggestions.

Omg what a selfish douche. Why are people like this?! They can never just be frigging happy for people...its always about them.
Tell her he has to suck it up as top tables aren't for mog's boyfriend otherwise I think you should just leave her off it if they have such trouble being away from one another for 2 hours or so.
Or you could have a sweetheart table. Just you and your h2b.
Sorry I'm not much help :/

Stick to your guns, he can't demand where to sit at your wedding, and if she doesn't like it then tough! You are not being one bit unreasonable - it's your wedding x

Agree with the above: give her the option to sit at the top table, without him, or sit at a regular table with him. I'm having a traditional top table: my OH and I, our parents, chief BM, and best man; this has meant that my brother for eg has been excluded with my chief BM there instead (my OHs brother is best man so his whole family will be on the top table). It shouldn't be an issue and TBH if he creates a scene, or has previously shouted at you/been aggressive toward you, I would question whether you want him at the ceremony full-stop...

I think I will follow your advices, I am not having HIM at MY table, no way when originally we were supposed to do it in France and we told them last January it was supposed to be still June 2012, he was saying that he don't think they could come (not leaving a choice to MOG) because bla di bla di bla, he's really an a*hole. I will nearer the time talk to her explain what I want as top table, and see what she says. and not worry about it any longer

That sounds good to me. He sounds like a bully but he can't dictate to how your wedding day is run. I'm sure if the MOG had a choice over being there or not she wouldn't miss out on they day or if she did it would be a very sorry state of affairs. Don't let other people stress you out as they really are not worth it.

they really can't be dictating to you where they sit ... we are sitting on a table with best man, MOH and bridesmaids and their partners, and having all the parents sitting on a table together. Mostly because h2b didn't want to sit at the same table as his father. You shouldn't have to tell her that they will sit where they are told to and that's the end of it, but maybe get h2b to tell her? Or see how he feels about not sitting at the same table as his mum? And if the table plan is kept between you until the day ... is he really likely to kick up a fuss about and look ridiclous in front of everyone?
Hope it gets sorted out xx

it's not up to him, you and your partner decide who sits where and everyone should accept that no matter who they are. im doing the exact same with my mum and her partner but he doesn't have a problem and so he shouldn't. please dont stress about it, leave him to to stress about it it's his problem not yours xx

Stick to your guns hun, if you dont want him at the top table then dont have him there.... if he doesnt come to the wedding because of it then its his problem not yours!

The MOG cant exactly turn round and say that she isnt coming because of him not being able to sit next to her!

Seriously hun, its yours and your H2Bs day so you do what you want! xxxx

I was nearly fuming yesterday when I introduced that subject to H2B who says he doesn't want HIS father at our table and would rather please his mum by having her boyfriend. I love his father who's been extremely kind to me that last time I saw him even though when we first met I was a bit of a stupid little girl, when H2B's parents got divorced he went to live with his dad, who just found a new girlfriend, and felt liberated and spent loads of time, and didn't look after H2B much who was a teenager and since that H2B has not been close to his dad, who's trying to make amends now and get closer. My dad will most likely not come to our wedding, so I thought because I like FOG I really want him to sit at our table between my mum and my sister, so he's far from MOG, they don't get along at all even nearly 15 years after divorce.
