Ok so since we found our venue Matt has got it into his head that he wants a string quartet to welcome guests in, walk me down the isle, while the wedding breackfast is on and while we sign our lives away to each other, which im actually quite looking forward too hehehe. BUT heres my problem. We have a £500 budget for entertainment during the service and meal (dj comes with the venue for the reception) and at £400 just for the above im not sure, as i was also looking at a caricturist for during the breakfast which is £200, only £100 over but its a £100 we dont have. SO do i forfeit the caricturist OR do i go for a soloist (sp?) who plays the violin which is £300 or i could find someone to play the piano as the venue has a grand in the room already?? That way we could have both????
But matt has set his heart on a string quartet!!!!

Hails my love, you've already bent over backwards by forfeiting your Disney wedding because of Matt's dad. The feisty beggar in me thinks you should tell Matt where to shove his string quartet and find someone to play the piano that's already in the venue and have your caricaturist if that's what you want. BUT Weigh up the pros and cons of all your options. You need some form of entertainment 1) Piano player - probably the most viable option given your budget 2) Caricaturist - yes it's fun but how 'entertaining' is it going to be for the guests? Would they have to pay for the picture? 3) String quartet - lovely idea but it does seem very expensive for what you'd be getting
If by saying 'no' to the strings it means you can have the other 2 then personally I think that's the way forward.

looking at piano players as we type so will let you know. As for the caricturist. Nope the £200 is for as many pictures that need doing, so all paid for and he will be there for 5 hours. (might see if i can get him cheaper if hes only there for 2 hours, hmm theres an idea lol).

Did you manage to find yourself a pianist? £200 for 5 hours for all the pictures is actually really quite good and it's not something you see at many weddings

agree with sarah and you do already have a piano at the venue? you could just pay someone to play it??
FYI : our caracaturist is £280 for 2 hours
