I will be having my trial in mid-Feb and I've no idea what will work, look good or compliment my dress etc.
I will be having a full length cathedral veil that is the length of the train of my dress. I've not ordered it yet but will order it in February from the shop/lady I got my dress from.
Now, I'm not really a hair up kinda girl. I always always always wear my hair down or half up half down, unless I'm exercising. Think Kate Middleton style hair, I've been wearing my hair like this for the past 8 years or so either straightened with my ever reliable GHd's or I just leave it natural (wavy/loose curls).
My dress is strapless but for the Church ceremony I have a shoulder piece/strip approx 5 inches wide with both ends attached to the front of the dress and drape across my shoulders around/across the back (hope that makes sense). This has diamantes on it.
The dress itself it quite plain and classic princess shape.
Soooooo, given I'm not really a hair up girl, will I/my hair look ok with the shoulder piece on for the Church? I know it'll be fine later when I take the shoulder piece off. Also with the long veil in will it look ok?
As I always wear my hair the same or in 2 or 3 styles which are just "me" do you think it'll look alright?
How does the veil stay in the hair if I wear my hair in that Kate Middleton type style that I always have? I know I sound a little boring not wanting much different for my hair to what people are used to seeing me with. I'm not wanting a tiara, tried a few on and I just look ridiculous. I don't mind having a smaller more dainty sparkly comb at the back.
Any help, advice and ideas on hair style, looking ok with my dress and fixing in the veil would be greatly appreciated. xx

Thanks KelBel. I like the second one you posted. I've saved a few images like that one. What you do you think with a long veil and how does that get attached/fixed to the hair?
Here's my dress for those who haven't seen it before. Will hair down with a long veil work with this?

Where u have the up bit pinned at the back u could have the veil pinned just under that, then either have it pulled over ur face or flat down ur back... I'm having a lazy bun for mine and having a full length lace veil that will be pinned under cos I don't want mine over my face x

Thanks hun. Yeah, I don't really want it over my face either, I hate things brushing against my face and when I tried one on with the over the face bit I wasn't very comfortable in it and my sister, best mate and mum weren't too keen either.
Do you think hair down with veil with that shoulder piece in the Church will be too much going on? x

I know exactly what you mean, the difficulty is that I know wearing it down will mean I spend half the time fussing with it! I think I need to book a hair trial and just see what they can do. I'm rubbish at hair, either I leave down or put it in a pony tail!! That's my limit!! x

Lol, don't worry about it! That's why I've just ordered myself a new blackberry, I just can't get on with touch screen phones and I love my blackberry, so easy to use with proper buttons to press.
I guess I will have to get the lady to play around with a few styles, I'm just worried that what I think I want won't look right or people will be like "oh, she could've made an effort to wear her hair differently to how she always does!".

why not try it up as you normally have it down just to see what it looks like
I think if u want the detailing of ur dress to be seen, u should have as much up as possible so if u have it all down, u won't see the extra details as much x

Ah yes I will show her a pic of the dress and hope she can suggest something good. She is fab, she does London fashion week and we used her for my sister's wedding last year and she was just brilliant.
Thank you xxx

me personally would have my hair off my back as that dress is too stunning to be hidden i love the shoulder wrap thing. id wear the veil in the church but probably take it off at the reception, i also want a long veil but wont be keeping it on will be sitting on it standing on it and everything. haha x
Cant wait to become Mrs Ellerington!!!!!
CommentAuthorInDreamland
Yeah, it will come off after all photos taken at the reception, prob just before we sit down to eat.
Maybe she can do something that is up but still looks like it's down, like cascading waves something if that makes sense?

hmm you may be ok with hair down then, because if its curly it will take an inch or so off the length, its not going to cover the back bit. x x

How about curly and to the side like I had it, have a look at my hair trial pics hun. Its the best of both worlds (i think) cus its still down around your face like how you usually have it but cus its swept to the side you can see the lovely shoulder piece in the church. Then for the evening you could undo it and have it down, loose and wavy so you feel and look like yourself. You still want to look like you hun xxx
CommentAuthorInDreamland
Thanks Sazzell, I love your hair! Might have to suggest trying that out too. I wonder how it'll look with a veil xxx

I think it's important you will look like you on your wedding day so if you always wear your hair down then do the same on your wedding day, that way your comfortable too. You could have some loose curls through it so slightly more glam? Also I think your hair down will look lovely with the shoulder piece too, very glam so do what your comfortable with.

You and your dress are stunning. I'm pretty sure whatever hair you chose you are going to shine.
One of my bridesmaids got married a few years back, she only ever wears her hair down because its so thick and curly and gorgeous. So for the day she wore it half up half down. She had a halter neck dress and it wasn't over shadowed by the hair. I thought it looked relaxed and enough like her, but a bit special because she doesn't often wear it half up half down. Plus it keeps it tidy.
CommentAuthorSazzell23
I had a side tiara and a veil with that hairstyle hun. Wore the veil low down tucked into the plait and took it out after the Church xxx
