Hi guys! I'm a newbie :-) My fiance, Rob & I have decided to sack off the traditional "I do's" and go abroad to do it. Zante, Greece is our destination of choice & we are looking at May '14. I'm super excited but I havent got a clue where to start?! Is anybody planning and abroad wedding? I need to know any reccomended websites to use for booking if anyone could help me? I've been told its cheaper going to through an independant business than doing it through a travel agent. Yet I'm a bit worried that some sites may not be legit.. How easy could it be to set up a fake website?! I dont know if I'm just being paranoid but any advice would be fab :-) thanks guys!!

Hi charlotte :) im getting married abroad in Kos in June and i felt the same about websites as you do! We went imto thimson/first choice and they were amazing! We bought the holiday as you would any holiday but paid for all the extras we could in the hotel of our choice, they then made us fill out a few forms to see if the date we wanted was free and sent them off to the wedding team. They said we would hear back in 6 weeks but heard back in 2! We upgraded the wedding location & package and it cost £869 to pay 12 weeks before we go. including flowers, decoration, wedding planner,hair/makeup,private dining for evening reception, upgraded room etc.
Then they give you a list of extras on top like private yahts and BBQs on the beach, but i would just with your instinct. We were told it would be cheaper doing it seperately but all together we felt it was more protected doing it through a well known travel agent & it was cheaper than doing everything seperately.
Hope your planning goes well xxx

Thanks evans2be! I was really unsure about doing it through an independant business because like you said agents give you a wedding co ordinator and do everything together and you know all the legal side of it will be, well, legal :) did you buy wedding insurance/travel insurance? thanks again thats a big help! xx
