My fiance and I were planning on getting married in August 2013, but due to costs etc we are thinking of moving the date forward to April 2013. Is it unrealistic to plan a wedding in 8 months?

Nope, my friend managed it in six months, you just have to be strict with yourself.

If you more or less now what you want, I would get moving now as venues get booked up quickly, same with photogs, bands etc particularly for Friday or Saturday weddings.

Also, you need to be looking for a dress ASAP as it is recommended to get this at least six months before, unless you are an easy fit.

However, if you feel that it would be too stressful (which I can relate too, ours isn't til next August and im already in hysterics over it) it may be best to wait them you can take your time and enjoy the planning xx

Yeah its definately doable. Alot of us here have taken longer but that was because we wanted to. we took our time sorting this and that out, but all of us COULD have pulled it around in 8 months....

it obviously depends on the scale of the wedding.
if you are planning an intimate wedding, with simple dresses and just a few friends for a lovely dinner, then that will take considerabley less time than a big wedding with 200+ guests and all the finery you can mention.....

you have to see how far you want to go. and obviously what the budget will allow spread over 8 months. If money is not an issue, then anything can be done, but if you have to wait for funds to afford this and that, then you have to spread the cost over a longer period of time.

but YES....8 months is plenty of time to arrange a wedding.

no problems 8 months is plenty of time to organise a wedding i could of done mine sooner but my sister set her date first and i just couldn't upstage her and go before her. Don't forget there are programs on tv that get there wedding planned within a few weeks !!!
you just need to decied what type of wedding you want and then start searching.

I gave myself 11 months to plan ours, and for the last 4 months I have had nothing to do!!! Had the whole thing organised and planned in just under 4 months. Was the easiest thing i've had to do to be fair.
Which has left me enough time to sort any problems (like my dress issue) And its only now really that we've started to "organise" it again, as its coming up to time to pay for things etc, so just getting in touch with all the suppliers, confirming numbers, and exact requirements for what we want.

I wish i'd set the date for sooner to be fair, as then I wouldn't have got so bored with it all. I have spent the last 3 months avoiding this website, as I've had no interest in the wedding at all!! Just want it to hurry up and be here, so I can start looking forward to it again

Also any help you need, there are more than enough people on here, ALWAYS willing to offer amazing advice, so you'll be absolutely fine :) xx

It is definitely possible to plan a wedding in 8 months, I'm also at the stage where I can't really do a lot. We set ours for when we did for a number of reasons, cost being the main one, but also to give to time to DIY it - in reality the DIY side is as time-consuming as I thought it would be.

I think it will be more than possible, I have just booked my venue for beginning of march next year and that's all I have done. There is so much to do, but with focus we can both do it. You will be fine x x

Easy peasey! Got engaged 14th of Feb, getting married 20th of October, it's not been massively difficult so far. I got mildly stressed sorting out the invites this week but no major problem.
I thought the sooner the better, I have a tendency to over think everything so I wanted to do it ASAP. I would have booked September (7 months) if the venue I wanted had avalibility.
    :) xx

If I had the funds available I would of managed mine in a couple of months.
I have given myself 18 months and am waiting for other people to sort their things out so that I can finish the planning.
