I have a latex mold for making aprox 3 inch diameter ammonites (our place names all relate to Whitby,Whitby is famous for its fossils)
So, my original thought was to make them out of plaster of paris, and use clay to make a little stand at the back then stick a wire holder thingy into that which will hold the place name card.
However, I thought I'd be able to buy the wire holder things separately - even something like those with crocodile clips on the end or something, but I cant find them anywhere! A search of the bay and amazon has only yeilded one potential supplier but the shipping costs are extortionate!
So now I'm a bit stuck....has anyone made there own place names? Im struggling with how to attach the name card to it! Xx

Maybe some kind of flower wires? Curled around at the top - or a few bound together if they arent thick enough? Or perhaps a thin plant type stick (wrapped in ribbon?) with decorated pegs?

I was thinking the same as Almost Mrs B what about florist supplies - maybe wire or plastic card holders? I think they are called floral pick card holders xx

thick florist wire should do the trick! I like the plant stick in ribbon idea as well!! you could just glue it on with a glue gun and just stick a bit of ribbon over the back of the glued bit so it looks neat

how about cutting a line down the back of the ammonite and putting the cards straight in it?
One BIG day will lead to lots of little happy days !!
