    Hi ladiesI need somehelp.

I have been married B4 and did the whole big whit wedding, big chirch and big everything including photo's of everyone.

This time I decided not to have photo's at all for a few reasons. 1, As even though I amnot ugleI do not take a very good photo. 2, my H2B hate the hanging around of the photo's. 3, the cost and 4, I just want my day to be completley different to the first time.

However, my mum thinks that I am making a big mistake and said that she would pay for the photographa as she feels that we may regret not having official photo's taken.
Am I just being silly by not having one?

    excuse the spelling

You could just ask guests to take photos instead of posing for photos, that way you will get more of a natural look, then ask guests to give you a copy of them on a cd

instead of getting a photographer that takes portraits possibly get one that takes reportage photographs which is where he just catched people instead of posing them etc as i'm the same i don't do well in photos where i am posed i prefer when someone just catches me at the right angle, don't get me wrong i had some portraits done with the family etc but mine were mainly reportage and i much prefer the ones that he caught while i wasn't looking. for example:

    Posed
    Posed

    Not posed
    Not posed

hope this helps, there is a link on my wall if you want to have a look at our pictures as we had mainly reportage photography but with some posed ones in there as well and they came out really well, especially ones of our guests.

I agree with officially MrsMann, have a photographer capture the action rather than pose you all. I've seen some amazing wedding pictures that were taken like this.
If you don't have a photographer you might regret it afterwards. Me I don't mind standing or sitting for posed shots, but I hate being on video lol so I have a different issue, should I have a video done or not! Well that's another topic for another thread.

Someone on here made good suggestion awhile ago about putting cds on palcces so that people can burn thero photos they take to them and then u can pick and print out what ones u want.

I not to great at having photos taken and H2B even worse (if he had his way we wouldnt have photographer) but like mrs mann says if tehy take just teh casual style you should be fine xx

I think you would regret not having some photographic reminders of the day. i am like you and do not photograph very well (to the extend that H2B said if he had been shown a pic before we met he would have run a mile). I will be going for more reportage style pics on the day as hoping a good photpgrapher can get some more natural shots.

Mrs Bram I was contemplating doing something similar but I soon realised that the half of the discs or disposable cameras or whatever either get lost or the people don't bother uploading them onto a pc or get them developed so the bride and groom may well end up with very little official photos. I'm still waiting on my own mother sending me holiday photos she had taken last summer lol.
Most people have digital cameras or camera phones now anyway and might take a lot of pictures, but that may not be a guarantee either.

I also think you may regret not having photos.

As the other ladies have said, photos these days don't have to take ages, or be posed or formal; lots of photographers specialise in reportage-style photography, and you'll barely notice they're there. To keep costs down, you could always just have photos of the ceremony, and maybe a few at the drinks reception if you're having one. That way you'll get the key moments (vows, exchanging rings, walking down the aisle etc) with none of the standing around or posing.

I didn't have a photographer and am still certain that it was the right decision for us.We didn't have one for exactly the same reasons as you.
We just asked that our guests take lots of photos (on their own cameras) and so far we have had about 2000 back...i am blown away by how many we have (take a look at some in my album)
I would say if you don't want one, don't.I am happier with the pictures my guests have taken of me than any proffesional ones i have been in because i am relaxed, happy and not focusing on being photographed. xxx

My H2B doesn't lokie his picture taken and he gets so nervous about it he ends up looking a bit goofy!! SO we are having repotage pictures, I prefer how they look anyway. I think photos are one of the only things that last after the big day so I wouldnt be without them

4th April 2014 - I get married to my soul mate
