I've just been quoted £1800 for a photographer and I don't know if this is reasonable or not. He has to travel about 150 miles each way which is included and will stay with me for the whole day and well into the evening taking what i call action shots as well as the standard posed ones. There is no limit to the number of photos I can have taken. Apparently he took 1500 at one wedding that was edited down to about 400.

I have seen lots of his pictures and really like his photo style. He's taken a few photos of me in the past when I've been at gigs and they have always looked great. He just sounds quite expensive. What do you think?

does it include an album or dvd??? Its expensive for me personally as I wouldnt spend nearly £2000 on a photographer, but if hes good ad you like his style, and can afford it, I say go for it xxx

mines £300 to cover everyone arriving, the ceremony and the reception up to the speeches, DVD with the pics on and rights to print. Which is fine as we have just bought a new super dooper printer anyway! And I think they do prints for £4.95 if we want them done professionally.

We didnt go for an expensive package because H2Bs mum and dad are both photographers, his dad won an award and beat Lord Snowdon in a photography competition I think and has been published and my daughter takes fantastic professional quality pictures too (she is in web/graphic design) so really the professional photographer is there to take pictures of the family together, we will have plenty of good pics from the family as well!

I think it includes a DVD and all rights but he also has offers on a wedding book with a free mini book for the parents too. Staying for as long as I need him from when I get ready right past the first dance and into the evening. The last one he did at this package took 10hrs and 1500 photos.

Perhaps he's not so expensive after all and I haven't tried negotiating him down yet!

    Thanks girls

Sounds about right to me that's what I was quoted by a few companies..give or take a few quid. My friend said she wanted to do the photography as a gift to us...she is an amazing photographer...I wanted her to be a guest but she said she would feel honoured!! I'm sooo lucky xxx

he's just cut it down to £1500 and thrown in an engagement shoot worth £150 too. Not sure H2B will go for that as he doesn't like his photo taken at the best of times - perhaps I can change it for some money off and an album. Still not sure but waiting to get some more quotes in - sounds like there's a right mix of prices.

I have the same photographer as Pringletwix, I am getting the same except not the book or the prints and mine is £170 which includes the pre-wedding shoot which we had last week... Pringletwix package is more because of the additional bits she is having but also includes his travelling costs his photo's are fab, he was originally a photographer for the music industry (still is lol) he is FAB, so to me £1500 is way over the top!!! But each to there own hun!

ours was £460 i think, that covered me getting ready, everyone arriving at the registry office,in the office, all the after shots, planned by the castle and then back at the reception,we had an album with 30 prints in it and its beautifull

edited to say we had 2 photographers with us on the day,one capturing the planned shots and the other taking off guard shots, which proved to be fab

    Sounds about right to me.

By the way, the engagement shoot actually might be really good for your H2B's, gets him used to the photographer and the camera in advance will help him be more chilled on the wedding day.

If you really can't get H2B to come to the engagement, then think about a boidour shoot instead and surprise him on the wedding night !!
