i have wondered whether we provide food for the photogrpher or not?
obviously he is not going to be taking pictures of people eating so was thinking of inviting him and his wife (she is the second photographer) to join us for the wedding breakfast.

    whats everyone else doing?
    xx

We arranged for sandwiches to be provided for our photographer & videographer. They had them while charging batteries in another room when we were all eating. We didn't know them and they wouldn't have been there if they hadn't been working, so didn't really see the need for them to be sat with us all eating.

I suppose it depends what you are having - a formal sit down meal might be awkward for a hired help.
On the other hand we are a hospitable and warm family and I want everyone taking part at the wedding to feel welcome. We're having a mixed spit roast, so it's much less formal and my photographer is a friend though a distant one who I don't know very well (great talent) so obviously she will be included in everything.

In any case I would always provide some sort of food and drink.

If he's there all day, I would probably do the sandwiches thing. After all, it then prevents the embarrassment of him assuming he can eat something off your wedding breakfast.
Mine won't be there all day, so I've not had to think about this, but I would think it cheeky if someone working at the wedding thought they were included.
We used to provide snap for the waiters and kitchen staff, but it was not off the wedding breakfast and staff never assumed they could touch!

All the photographers I have looked at have said they will either bring a pack up to have in a seperate room while we eat OR asked us to provide a LIGHT lunch like sandwichs etc which they would again have in a seperate room so they can go over their work so far or take pic's of the venue from the outside etc.
Ask your photographer what they would perfer hunni, after all they have done this hundreds of times so they will know what they would perfer to do for food etc.

Usually you provide a hot meal for the photographer, but they eat it in a separate room

We asked ours if we had to provide lunch and they said they usually bring a packed lunch and grab an opportunity to back up photos they've took in the morning and to change the batteries etc which is ideal :)

Guess its down to their personal preference really xx

We've agreed with our photographer that they can help themselves to buffet in the evening - haven't provided any other meals/drinks for her though. Although she's going to be on site from 12 til 3 then leaving and coming back just before 7pm for our evening bit so i'm assuming she'll eat in the gap.

OUR PHOTOGRAHER is one of our guests so they will be eating with us ....however when thry do other weddings they take thier own food.
when thinking that you have to feed them would you provide lunch for builders you had employed to do a job ? .....why should you pay to feed the photgrapher

Our photographers are ex-colleagues so I'm including them in the food count, as well as the videographers but the video guys who we don't know personally have said they're happy bringing sandwiches but I thought we may as well include then as we're having the food walked around - I'm going to ask if they want to be seated though as seeing as we're only sitting for the speeches I guess they'll be moving around and working!

it's best to ask your photographer. I know a lot of them for various reason and each one is different. some make it clear from the beginning that they expect food (have it in the contract), most take sandwiches. either way its best that both you an you photographer/s know whats expected as it no good the photographer expecting a meal when you thought they were bringing sandwiches etc. you might also find that even if you offer the photographer might decline you, don't take offense at this but some photographers don't like to think they are being given 'special treatment' etc. In fact I spoke to one lady photographer recently who said she feels slightly embarrased to except a meal when she is not a guest.

We arranged with the hotel that they could have a bar meal and put it on our tab - cost us less than £20 for two meals and the photographers were more than happy - they'd brought sandwiches in case anyway!
