I am contemplating the budget cut on photography and have seen a few photographers offering photos purely on CD with the album as an option. Found a few placed online for printing photo books at a fraction of the price, but is this the right route?
    Has anyone else done this?
Who is good and bad for online photo book creation?
    help!

There a lot of ladies here who have a lot of luck creating their own photo albums with photos from the day. I've used the big blue food shop for a personal photo book and I really liked the end result. If budget were no object I'd love to have a professional album. However, I would prefer to make my own to save some money to use on a different part of my wedding.

I am doing my own photo books. I think it is nice because then you can do different ones for your family too if you wanted to it will probably still work out cheaper! Then because you have the photos on cd can do anything you like with them. My sister in law got one printed on a canvas to go up in her living room. It just seems a lot cheaper to get all your photos and you can do what you want with them when you want with them!!
    Hope this helps x x

Photobox is great for making your own album, my cousin designed her own through them.. I've bought quite a few canvas' from them and those are perfect quality as well.. My fiance's niece's photographer (mouthful!!) used them to create her wedding album ! I hated pointing out to her he charged her £100 more for it than it would've cost to do it herself on there ! They're really great quality.. xx

Plus you get free prints when you sign up with them (usually 40) so you could use those to maybe create an album for your parents or one you can carry around in your bag to show off to family and friends :-) xxx

I'm doing my own scrap book style photo books with little messages from our guests (we are having a wedding post box with A5 card for people to write on) thought it would be cute if it was all mixed together, I'll also be putting in a copy of our invites so it'll be more like a memory book than just a photo album. x

My Uncle and Cousin are doing our photo's and I am paying for their memory cards only which they will give to me after the wedding and I can do whatever I want with the photos. I want an old fashioned album but I'd be quite happy to make photo books for my Nannies as gifts or something too. This is such a cheap way to do it and I don't have to buy the rights to the pics thankfully.

Thats eaxctly what we had and made our own album at a fraction of the cost. In fact, we ordered 120 photos for just £6 and put them in an album

We're doing the same, just couldn't believe the price for the full professional service. I know some people would argue it's worth it as you'll keep them forever etc., but as some of the others have said, there are other areas of the wedding that could benefit from the money :)

we were thinking the same. we are luckily having my friends dad as our photographer and had planned a disc only and to create our own book. He has insisted on a book though and is putting it in for free. Think its a good idea. i did one for my mums 50th using fish that snap and it came out really well..

me... my photographer just does the disc. The books look lovely but am pretty sure they'd just end up in the cupboard (just like my first wedding album)...
