I just wanted to share this as I am not sure how to feel at the minute. We got our cd from the photographer on Wednesday and immediately looked through them. I wasn't 100% happy with them as we went through them but I'm not good with pictures so will have another look in a few days. However the biggest problem is the disk ended after the speeches, none of the evening photos were there. I contacted the photographer and got an apology. She has dropped in this evening and explained to me her files are corrupted and the disks are not with a specialist trying to save them, this can take up to 2 weeks and it is only 50/50 if we will see them. I have said I will wait and find out the outcome of this. But I am now wondering if I should be asking for more? I just feel blank, my family were late to the evening and did not see our first dance and I had problems with my dress on the day which has affected how I feel about the photos we do have and now we have a 2 week wait. I have already worried during our honeymoon about the photos! Any advise welcome

Have any of your guests got any photos they can send to you? Not entirely sure how she managed to have corrupt files on disc either? If it was her memory card that was corrupted there is a very good chance the files can be recovered, if there really is nothing to be salvaged then insist on a free photoshoot or a massive refund - keep us posted :)

Aww, hun, I empathise completely! (Although we were missing several key shots throughout the day simply because the photographer didn't do them!)
Like Teresa said, your guests will have some pics of your first dance. At least she's got a specialist on the job to recover them - at least there is a chance you'll get them.
My favourite tip at the moment is to get a little book and write down the special little bits of the day - who said what, who nicked all the champagne when no-one else was looking, your feelings on the first few days of married life - the things that the pictures could never capture - so you can read over your little notes in years to come xx

That's a great idea Amy, you forget so much. My sister took some great shots and I have them too. So much pressure to get everything perfect. Did you have other guests that took the shots you wanted?

    Hi Kelly,
Glad your sister came up trumps for you! Our photog was sent upstairs to get pics of dress, bouquet, jewellery etc & they were terrible - missed half of it & dress is so far away it looks like a white nightie on a hanger. No pics of the bridal party walking up the aisle, which I think is unfair as we asked our guests not to take pics in the ceremony as the photog was meant to be doing it - grr!!

May be you should ask your photographer for some money back as well i know it doesnt replace the photos but then you could maybe get a few of your fave ones on canvas or framed . its awfil when we pay so much and then things go wrong. hope you get it sorted and get the photos as i know thats the most important thing

this is so out of order, Photographers are supposed to have back ups, most that i know of assoon as they leave the wedding they go back and make 2 backup of images onto 2 seperate harddrives, then start the editing process and only delete them about 6 months after, once client has images and has decided what ones they want for photo book and prints etc. If she is unable to get ehm would insist on a massive discount, as im guessing that missed several major things, like cake cutting, and first dance etc. aswell as any pic of your evening guests . would be majorly pissed.

hopefully some other people got some decent pics else of what shes lost.

Feeling more positive about having enough pictures for memories and have looked again at the pictures I do have. The photographer said she would be working on options just incase possibly getting dressed up again so we will see. I have to look on the positive side as she has admitted what has happened and visited me to explain with a timeframe. We had some engagement pics done by someone else last year and he just disappeared when we said we did not like most of the pics so would not be booking even though we would of liked one of his arty shots printed. Positive thinking :)

I would definately be speaking to your photographer about getting some money back as you're not getting the whole pakage of what you paid for. A professional photographer would understand this and would either pay you some money back or throw something in for free like a Cherish/Trash the Dress photo session to make up for it.

further note on this subject - did the photographer ask you for a list of 'must-have' shots? For anyone getting married in the future its something to think about! Nt only does it mean that you will get everything you need but it also gives the photographer a good idea on how to structure the whole event, and it will save loads of time when it comes to the group shots :)

And so is the rest of my post lol. Was describing how much we had lost, we've been offered half the money back and a reshoot (now have my hair cut off) but my sister thinks we should get a full refund

That's such a shame. I would think carefully about what you would like. Do you want another photo shoot with the dress? If not then ask for a further refund. You should be able to dictate what kind of compensation you get. If you like the idea of a photoshoot then go for it.

That's such a big shame. All the pics of the cake cutting, first dance evening guests etc.
That's something you can never get back.
Let this be a warning to all brides to check the process of saving the images after wedding with your photog so that you know there safe. Most I know save all there memory cards to two seperate hard drives immediately after wedding. So if one fails is still on other.

I would want a full refund.

Oh no, how awful! I'm not sure how successful asking for a full refund would be if you have most pictures of the day. Plus she's offered a re shoot which I know isn't the same.

It's worth asking though for a full refund x

Oh no hun I'm really sorry to hear that they weren't able to retrieve what was lost :(
If it were me I think I'd definitely be pushing for more than half a refund if not the full costs :(
Hope you manage to resolve things to your satisfaction!

I definitely think something of a replacement would help if she can't retrieve them. It's tough with weddings as they're photo memories you can't get back, but different if you did a bridal shoot just you two but ones of the guests can't be replaced or replicated unfortunately as they're all natural shots. Some money back would go a long way too, I can't see a full refund as she has given you some photos x

Although it is your prerogative to ask for a full refund, i think that any court would dismiss this as you do have most of the photographs taken and your photographer has tried to make recompense by offering another photo shoot .
