So after spending a few days this week discussing with h2b whether to spend the money we've saved on a photographer ( his friend who is a professional had agreed to do it at a reduced rate ) on a photobooth it looks like that's out the window entirely as h2b just read me an email from his so called friend saying he's very sorry but he now can't do it as that's the day he gets back from holiday!!!!!!! I'm furious, disappointed and mega stressed now! We agreed it with him and met with in November ! You dont forget you're going on holiday and remember nearly two months later so he has obviously just booked it!!

Now were in a mega panic as its 6 months to go and no photographer! Plus I'm disappointed because I was looking forward to having some one we know do it and stupidly , as I said above we'd already planned what we'd spend the saved bit of budget on!!! Just feeling gutted all round really! And stupid as well as I guess, we thought as he was a friend he wouldn't let us down and so now we realise we should have gone about it in a much more formal way and signed contracts etc! A serious lesson learned here! Feeling mega poop about the whole wedding now, which I know will pass in a day or two but just feel so deflated! My bubble feels firmly burst! Mega sad face.

What a pain to let you down, out of order I think.

That said, these things happen for a reason and I'm sure you will find a photographer to suit you. It's gutting when you thought you were going to get something below budget and you get excited about alternative things, only to discover you're potentially looking at full price again, not to mention the additional hassle.

Yeah Laura we did have a right old mare with booking another one originally who was free one minute and had us penciled in and then the next was al " oh some one else wants me so you have to book me this minute or not at all " over the phone! ( that's the short version any way). We were so excited when my h2b's friend said he would be happy to do it. Particularly as h2b really is terrorised by the very idea of a photographer, having someone we knew made it so much easier for him so now I'm all upset and he's all anxious again!

I think I'll have a look on the quote me on here as well.

Thanks for being so supportive, I know it'll all work out in the end but just feel so let down about it all. H2b is just off to the big orange supermarket to by some booze to bring in the new year so hopefully he'll bring us back some treats. Bless him he just said he hasn't even been able to email the guy back about it yet as he is upset too.

Lol! Thanks KelBel! That's exactly what I needed to here! At first my h2b was trying to be diplomatic and say "o it's not his fault" I was so cross!! I just said " yeah right, he forgot he was on holiday - as if! " I mean come off it, who forgets they've got a holiday booked and then remembers two months later! If he'd had it booked at the time we organised with him what kinda photos we wanted he'd have checked the dates and been able to tell us then!! Such rubbish! I think it's a really mean thing to do! Agree and then book a holiday! What a jerk!

Sorry to hear that LizzyLou Its always awfull when a friend doesn't come through for you you feel mega let down but cheer up put a smile on your face you have 6months to get a replacement or try get your photobooth if you can let us know how it goes HugsZ Hun Just think in 6 months you'll be your One n Onlys Mrs so exciting for you =D <3 X

hope you get sorted, I've said no to any 'friend' wanting to help as 1. this could happen and 2. I am very critical and would prob fall out with them when it wasn't exactly what I wanted

I bet you are gutted I would be,but if he has not done loads of weddings may be thats why he has pulled out as if he did not do a great job not only has he let the client down but a friend as well. May be it was just a way out of it for him not to let you down with his work. Weddings, business and friends do not mix . Or he couldjust be a complete sod eithet way you better off with out him.

Feeling much more relaxed about it today, it's amazing what 24 hours of perspective does for you! Just going to fill out a quote me form and see what that brings up. Also got a friend who still lives near where were getting married to ask around at her work for some recommendations. She got married last year in August and still hasn't got her photos back, she can't get hold of him so I won't be using her guy! I feel more sorry for her so its helped but my dilemma into perspective. Thanks for all your kind words folks. It's always so great to come on here, always makes me feel better! xx

Hey Lizzylou have you thought about a diy photobooth? I've seen a few articles lately where brides have put together a 'photo area' at the reception with some props and either a digi camera or gone old school with a polariod camera? i know its not as high tech but i bet there are places online that can do all kinds if you had digi images.

If you didn't put down a deposit and get contracts then what more can you expect. Don't do photography on the cheap, it's one of the most important things you can purchase.
