A friend has offered to do our wedding photos for free. My problem is I have no idea where to start with getting a good storybook album afterward with the photos If its going to cost me just as much for the album as a photographer then maybe its not worth it.
Any suggestions from anyone?

Boots, Asda, Tesco and truprint all do online photobooks I had one done of my babies first year and it was stunning. They do good deals as well such as 3 photobooks for the price of two etc... You just upload your photos put them in the order you want them, choose the type of book you want we chose pale blue bonded leather for our baby boy, and choose how many pages, there are many choices and they do the rest. Hope this helps. xx

Another good tip is if you register with any of the above online photo sites you get between 20 - 40 free photos depending on which company. I got around 160 free photos of my hols last year by doing this but can just as easily be done with weddings etc.. By registering you will get the odd email with online offers such as 15% off etc... a win win situation I think. xx

We are having a friend do our photos but also using disposable cameras on the tables, we figure that even if only a third of pics taken by guests are usable we will still save a packet by using online photo sites and putting them in a photobook. A very special book that all who attended contributed to...their gift to us so to speak. xx

There are essentially two kinds of photo books out there.
Tescos/Boots etc: jolly fine, but not exactly high quality, certainly not "coffee-table" quality and won't last forever. They are cheap, they are great for "extra" albums outside of your main album. Covers are hardback or thick card.
Wedding Story Books: are available to trade photographers only, you can't buy them directly yourself. These are the GraphiStudio, Mareoni, Queensbury type albums. Very heavy duty, very coffee table, high quality and feels a million dollars. Ours are guaranteed for life (I'm pretty sure they all are). Covers are leather, acrylic, steel, silk - all sorts.
For one of these you need to contact a photographer to organise for you. Usually they will do the design as well. As a very rough guide expect to pay £300 - £600 for 30 pages - we charge £450.
