I have only just realised (Silly me) that i will have a period 3days before the wedding! I didnt even think anything about it, Untill h2b said about it! The last thing i want is to be a moody moo onthe day Im not on the pill at all!
Just wondering if anyone else is inthe same boat as myself? And what are you going to do? x
CommentAuthormadison_uk
worried about the same thing im on the jab thou it makes me really moody for the first couple of weeks and im due one just before the wedding so that will be really great, the joys of being women :(

One of my friends just told me she went onthe pill for a few weeks then stopped taking it! Thought that was abit weid! Or is that normall x
CommentAuthormadison_uk
don't know when i first got married i was on the pill so i came of it early so that i wasn't on on the wedding day spose you can do the same best to talk to a doctor and see what they suggest, then you could have mood swings if the pill does that to you ?

Hi I think i'm in the same boat allthough keeping fingures crossed as when we set the date my periods were reliable as anything and made sure wasn't going to be on !! but this year for some reason i 'm all over the place i dont think i will try the pill to sort it out as i think playing around with your hormones before wedding is not a good idea personaly knowing my luck it wouldn't work i will come out in loads of spots or put weight on. i just going to resign myself that i will be on on the day and if i 'm not well thats great nothing i can do about it !!
Hey ladies go to gp and ask about this pill, it stops your period, not sure what its called but my mum had realy bad periods and used to get them of the doctor before she went on holiday im sure you would be able to get them for your wedding day.xxx

This is the one thing that i'm worried about. I'm very regular and always near enough on my my due date so i can give a REALLY rough estimate, but i am a bit worried that that estimate is very wrong! With the wedding being just under 2years away, it'll be hard getting an estimate

Taking the pill just before could be risky as the one they give you may not agree with you and cause you more problems than the period itself would have. Also a word of warning, if you take the pill that weemindy is talking about, when you have your next period it will be extremely heavy! It isn't good for your body and unless you are starting the menapause or have particularly heavy periods in the first place GP's dont advise you take them xxx

I have had the pill wee mindy mentioned that stops your period. Doc gave me it before holiday Next period was not any worse than usual
My wedding is too far away to be worrying about this now but this time next year, If I am due to be on my period for the wedding, i will be requesting this little pill from the doc. Think there are 2 tablets you take x

That particular pill apparently makes moods worse than the period itself. Try taking the combined contraceptive pills for a while, that works :3

I have a form of haemophilia and occasionally have heavy prolonged periods due to lack of clotting. I was given tranexamic acid tablets to help with the heaviness of them, but they helped virtually stop them after a coupe of days. I've not had to take them for a while though. I'd not thought about periods and date of the wedding until I read this thread. Can't believe I'd not thought of it before. Working it out looks like I'll be on my period for the wedding :( think I may take some of the tablets next month to see if it'll bring them forward slightly so it misses the wedding completely x

My forst wedding I was due on 3 days before so I asked the doc what I could do and she just told me to miss out the 7 day break as I was on the pill at the time. Unfortantly I still came on on the day due to stress lmao

Women not taking 'the pill'
If you are not taking the combined oral contraceptive pill then a hormone tablet called norethisterone can be prescribed. The dose is 5 mg three times a day starting 3-4 days before a period is due. It can be continued for up to two weeks or so until you want to have a period. Your period will then normally begin 2-3 days after stopping it. Norethisterone is normally safe to take. Some women have side-effects such as bloating, stomach upset, breast discomfort and reduced libido (sex drive). How does this work?
Norethisterone is a progestogen hormone. Progestogens are hormones that sustain the lining of the uterus. Normally at the time before a period there is a fall in the level of progestogen hormone in the body. When it falls below a certain level, the lining of the uterus is shed as menstrual period. By taking norethisterone tablets (progestogen) the lining of the uterus is sustained until the tablet is stopped.
Note: norethisterone taken in this way is not a contraceptive.
This might be useful for ladies who are not on the pill xxx

see the doc to see if there is something you can do. I purposely played with the dates on my pill (made hubby to be wear something and he wasnt impressed while I did play with the dates) so now I am home free. I will be hit on the honeymoon though but we can just start the new pack instead of coming off apparently so I may do that.

I am another that just continued taking the pill - I was supposed to stop taking it two days before the wedding for my week off but didn't. Norethisterone is good though, I know a lot of ladies have mentioned using this during the last few days before their wedding day to stop mother nature's little visit from preventing them enjoying their day, all you have to do is ask your doctor.

When I was on the pill and was due on during a holiday, my doctor said that running two packs together now and again is fine and won't cause in problems. I did this, and wasn't noticibly moody or didn't suffer worse periods the next time... Ooh I'd hate to be on on my wedding day, i always feel self conscious when i'm on and get all over emotional - which i'm bound to be anyway lol

If you are on some types of pill you can miss a week off - ie carry on taking the pill continuously and thereby miss a period until the next period. Not sure which types etc so def worth checking with a GP, but friends have done this before if they had events or sports things coming up.

I've worked mine out and the wedding is smack bang in the middle of a packet of pills. Am coming off it though hopefully a month or so before the wedding to make a honeymoon baby.
I have had quite a few problems not so much with my actual monthlies but with contraception on the whole (i do feel absolutely disgusting all the time I'm on and want to shower twice daily) spoke to the gynaes at work and they reccomend taking 3 packets then a week off then three packets again occasional spotting but other than that no aunty flo visits.

I am due a couple of days before the wedding. Hoping that it will be finished by the day or more or less as I only have short ones. The only thing I am worried about is that my skin gets really bad in the run up to having one so chances are I am going to have a nice big spot on my face on the day.

I guess it depends on the person, I knew I could no way be on for our wedding day as the first day is always so bad and makes me want to die... I usually spend the day in bed if I'm off work, and if I'm at work well then everyone gets to meet the not so nice version of me and I want to cry all day!

if you dont want the contraceptive pill ask the doctor for a period stopper thats what ive got as im due on just after wedding when we head off on honeymoon!!! As im climbing kilimanjaro I really dont want to be on my period doing that!!!. I asked him what he recommended and he has given me a period stopper. only issue is you have to take 1 pill 3times a day so a bit more of a pain then normal pill. But it doesnt mess with moods etc. You start taking it 3 days before you are due and come on 3 days after you stop taking it!! I would hate to be on during my wedding day as going to the loo will be hard enough without having to deal with all of that.

i am really worried about this as i am a total cow when i'm due...like NOW!!!! lol i have been a crabbit b1tch for the last two weeks and my h2b actually muttered those damning words: 'are you on your period or something??' RAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i feel like crying as i pick up my dress from the seamstress on saturday and i can feel that i'm going to start today/tomorrow. sorry if tmi but i have such heavy periods and i don't even like leaving the house in case i leak, so i'm scared to try on my dress on sat :(
every single holiday i have been on, i have ALWAYS started my period either a few days before or the day we left, so i'm pretty certain i'll be on i cyprus...which upsets me so much.

I'm on the pill that you take constantly, and so have no periods at all, thankfully!!! I only get spotting when I'm stressed, but I will try not to think about it lol! I was going to wear granny pants anyway!!
Kisywisy - I know how you feel, mine used to be like that. Its upsetting and I wish I had an answer, hopefully it will be a little lighter come the weekend? xxxx

I take orlistat which the doc prescribed me, it delays your period by however many days you take the pills for! Ask your doc to see if he can recommend something? x

kisywisy i used to be like that when i was younger and it is awful. They became much better after my first child and even better once i was on the pill.Theres obviously nothing you can do in time for your dress fitting (i used to wear a tampon, pad and two pairs of big knickers when i went out if it was in the first three days!) but if you make an appointment with your gp he/she will definitely be able to give you something that will prevent you getting your period on your wedding day/in Cyprus xxx

I've got an app which I thought said I would be on my second day as it says I finish it on the 7th (I only do 3 days), but I start on the 4th so the 7th will in fact be my last day which is when it just suddenly stops around lunch time, which works out fine for me!
